We have one selectmen who is so busy campaigning and not giving the town that elected him his undivided attention making him make snap decisions then trys to weasle his way out of what he voted on when he finds out people are upset with his vote and it might hurt his election.
Do you really have the town in mind when you make these decisions or is it all about you and furthering your political agenda.

OK< they can not get a liquor license, but what I want to know is this, is a chain retail butcher shop really worth it and what a town needs? I go to some really good independents now and will this chain water down the quality we all expect from your corner store, Sam the butcher place. Heck, if their meat sucks why should I care about getting a rack of Buds there.

Very high quality product there. I would say it rivals alpine, if not better. Doesn't really seem like a place to get a rack of buds though...maybe a case of sam.

Well they also might be protecting the interests of certain liquor store owners in town? Please don't forget the fact that this IS Chelmsford. Just the good ol' Boys....

The meat House should have been granted the wine and beer license. There is not one good reason for the Selectmen to have denied it.
The REAL reason the three Selectmen probably voted against the license is because they each received phone calls from Liquor store owner John Harrington, strongly urging them to deny this license, and to deny any other one that may give him any little bit of business competition.
This lioense denial was not supportive of our small businesses at all.
I hope they change their minds and do what's right.

I wonder if the fact that John Harrington is a retired Chelmsford Police Officer incentivized the Chelmsford Police Chief to write his letter to the Selectmen, recommending against this beer and wine license for the Meat House?

Well that's the last time I buy at Harrington Liquor. Back to Sam's Club or Market Basket in Nashua.

Clare, you're right. It's unfair. But so is the sweet deal that lets Chelmsford businesses pay the same rate as private citizens when business receives much more fire, police, garbage & other city service. Successful businesses happily pay a split rate in other MA towns.

Kurland, great pro-business position. I guess Meat House didn't contribute to your campaign...

For Harrington, the handwriting is on the wall. If this food store gets a license, then why not Market Basket or the new Stop & Shop?

Kurland & the Police Chief should be shown the door. In the meantime, Chelmsford loses sales tax revenue and private citizens will pay higher property taxes.

The Chelmsford Business Asociation has been run by John Harrington since it began in the '90s. He owns Harrington Liquor.
the CBA is usually pro-small business except when one of its board members owns the biggest liquor store in Chelmsford.
Harrington opposed the Drumhill Gas Station from selling beer & wine also in competition with him.

This one is not that difficult to figure out.

I don'tbuy at Harrington's anymore either. Go to the Westlands Liquor.

Market Basket in NH $9.99 18 packs all this week. Bud, Bud Light, Coors, you name it. Reps from Bud there full time stocking the stuff is flying out the door that quick. Not any Mass. store has the ability to compete, no wonder we are bleeding red ink!

Chelmsford also oppossed the ballot question last year to allow grocery stores to sell beer and wine.

You guessed it. Harrington lead the effort and spoke against it, representing the 'no" vote at the Chelmsford League of Women Voters forum at the police station.

David, I was not trying to make a dumb comment, and if you noticed I got a nice reply from someone about the meat House and said thanks, I think I will go check it out. I am glad you also mentioned their high quality and will be there soon for sure. They do not need a beer license for me. happy 4th OK.

Most selectman understand allowing this type of license will open a huge can of worms. If Meathouse has alcohol, then they will have to allow everywhere that sells food to sell alcohol.

The POLICE don't want this. Everything else are rumors started by a wannabee news website.

Update from your 1970 Brady Bunch fridge and you'll realize that nowadays 99% come with a light in there.

Let me guess, your typewriter doesn't have an ethernet port?
