For those who may not have heard, Aviation High School has recently had a policy change that now permits juniors to participate in the Running Start Program. In the past, AHS has limited participation to just seniors, whereas all other high schools in the Highline School District have been offering it to both junior and seniors.
If you have a son or daughter that will be a junior next year at AHS (or for that matter any high school in the district), it’s not too late to sign your child up for Running Start. With school having let out for the summer, I recommend you contact Max Silverman, who is the Director of High School programs for the district. He has been very involved with this policy change and I’m sure will be happy to answer any of your questions, as he’s done for me, and can help facilitate the paperwork (one single sided form…painless). Max’s email address is… silvermax@hsd401.org.

For those of you who may not have heard of the Running Start Program, it is an opportunity for your child to earn college credits free of charge while also satisfying high school graduation requirements. It’s a great way to shave off college credits for free. For more information on the Running Start Program, click on the links below.
