Several Illinois road projects scheduled
Bloomington-Normal is set to see several road and bridge construction projects as part of Illinoisa $5 billion road and bridge improvement plan set on April 15.

While this construction will keep a few workers busy it is also zapping the Illinois economy with $5 Billion of debt. This will weigh down the economy for years to come. A better way to move people is to encourage private transportation by putting tolls on any roads that have work done on them or need improvements. The tolls should be there until the bills are paid. Then there would be no need to raise fees or taxes to cover their cost. This increased awareness of the real cost of driving would make people look for alternatives that would cost less. One alternative that could cost less would be passenger rail between cities.
