Re: "A Restoration Drama" in the June 29 issue: It was NOT Mayor Richard J. Daley's committee that saved the library and made it into the Cultural Center. It was MRS. Daley who was upset that the committee was considering demolishing the library. She lobbied the Mayor, the press and the public -- until she got her way and the library was saved. This is the only time Mrs. Daley took a public stand on any issue.
