A high speed rail line running from Chicago-->Normal-->St.Lo uis will never materialize. The Canadian National Railroad owns the existing tracks, and it has stated that it would never allow high speed rail service on its property.
It would be easier to build a new high speed rail network that runs from Chicago directly to Peoria. As Transportation Secretary, Ray Lahood could work with Aaron Schock to make it happen.
