Make these kids enlist in the military--after they serve their time in prison, that is.

Come on Bob, read the story....he was "responding" which means he had been dispatched to the call, he just wasn't rolling up saying he was a cop. And if ISU doesn't dispatch more than one officer for a fight in progress, they should be beat.

This article never stated these guys were actual students; it just said they were from the northwest suburbs. My guess is that these losers were visiting a friend (a student) and got in a fight. The article really wasn't all that clear...no suprise.

Why does the Tribune refer to these criminals as "Teens"? This makes them sound like a bunch of kids out doing pranks. These three are adults. Maybe these should have served in the Armed Forces instead of going to school and they may have matured first. I served three years in the Marines before returning at the age of 21. It is funny how being a Sargent and leading a squad of Marines can force you to mature. Yes it took me longer to finish school, but I took things more serious than these clowns.

Good call. The Daily Herald did state that they were visitors at ISU, not students there.

Here's my question -- why weren't the "kids" charged with attempted murder? I would bet a paycheck if they had been black, this would have been the charge leveled at them. Aggravated battery -- WOW.
