Full story: www.peta.org

Norfolk, Va. -- With a new Pew Forum study showing that one out of every four people in the world is a Muslim, PETA has unveiled IslamicConcern.com, a site designed to help guide Muslims who are interested in exploring animal-friendly alternatives to everything from lamb kebabs and leather jackets to the sacrifice of goats on the holy days of Haj. The site provides information on what Islamic scholars have said regarding a vegetarian diet and discusses what the Qur'an and the hadiths say about human interaction with animals. It also addresses subjects such as the use of animals in lethal product tests and the care of animals in the home ...

Hamas TV rapped for animal abuse

A US-based animal rights group says it will protest to a Hamas-run TV channel over a programme, showing animals being abused at a zoo in the Gaza Strip.

No, the prophet (PBUH) didn’t hate dogs, why would he hate innocent animals? In fact he said that there are heavenly rewards for any act of kindness towards animals including dogs

Volume 4, Book 56, Number 673:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Prophet said, "While a dog was going round a well and was about to die of thirst, an Israeli prostitute saw it and took off her shoe and watered it. So Allah forgave her because of that good deed."

Actually he only said that about the prositute she was probably beautiful and forced into prostition by Muhammad the only dogs permitted by Muhammad were the NEEDED WORKING DOGS!
Muslims have abused animals just as readily as anyone else from the start and unto this day!
Volume 1, Book 9, Number 498:
Narrated 'Aisha:

It is not good that you people have made us (women) equal to dogs and donkeys. No doubt I saw Allah's Apostle praying while I used to lie between him and the Qibla and when he wanted to prostrate, he pushed my legs and I withdrew them.
in it."

----------
Volume 4, Book 54, Number 540:
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar:

Allah's Apostle ordered that the dogs should be killed.
Volume 4, Book 54, Number 541:
Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah's Apostle said, "If somebody keeps a dog, he loses one Qirat (of the reward) of his good deeds everyday, except if he keeps it for the purpose of agriculture or for the protection of livestock. "

----------
Volume 4, Book 54, Number 542:
Narrated Sufyan bin Abi Zuhair Ash-Shani:

That he heard Allah's Apostle saying, "If somebody keeps a dog that is neither used for farm work nor for guarding the livestock, he will lose one Qirat (of the reward) of his good deeds everyday."

Volume 1, Book 9, Number 490:
Narrated 'Aisha:

The things which annul the prayers were mentioned before me. They said, "Prayer is annulled by a dog, a donkey and a woman (if they pass in front of the praying people)." I said, "You have made us (i.e. women) dogs. I saw the Prophet praying while I used to lie in my bed between him and the Qibla. Whenever I was in need of something, I would slip away. for I disliked to face him."

Muslim men have a reputation already for abusing animals as well as the women they own, they are forgiven for even killing them if they feel they deserve it. What's with that belief?

Isn't there something abt. male Muslims being distracted by any one of these during prayer, then having to perform wudu and start praying again, else Allah will not hear his prayers?

Yes it is and Muhammad only allowed working dogs and ordered dogs killed if they were not!And dogs are still often persecuted in islamic nations because of that! But the Islamic animal rights site will glorifie islam as though it does no wrong and never has with animals in hopes of convencing animal rights activists who don't know islam that oh islam is ok AFTER ALL. But the facts are very differant!

It's cultural, not Islamic. Dogs are functional animals in Middle Eastern culture.

Liar.
Wheres the peace wrote:

Because dogs are functional animals in arab culture. Not pets.
Wheres the peace wrote:

Which actually means Muslims are no different to other people when it comes to animals? Maybe that's true and maybe not.

This was in response to a ruling given by someone erroneously saying that a prayer is not broken by a dog or donkey but it is by a woman. It was something she corrected. It does not mean anything else - unless you want to make into a joke.

Meaning don't keep a dog for a pet. They are dirty (cats are better).

No?

In Sahih Muslim, Book 4, Number 1032:

Abd Allah ibn al-Samit said: Abu Dharr said: The Messenger of Allah said: "When one of you stands in prayer, what definitely constitutes a barrier for him is an object placed in front of him of the same height as the back of a camel-saddle.
If it is not in front of him and of the same height as the back of a camel-saddle, then some [stray] donkey, or some woman passing, or some black dog will cut off his prayer."
I said: "O Abu Dharr! What is it that makes a black dog different from a red or yellow dog?"
He replied: "O dear cousin! I asked the Messenger of Allah the exact same question. He said that the black dog is a devil."

Notes on the legal rulings based on this hadith and its meaning:

The passing of the above-mentioned in front of the person at prayer does not invalidate his prayer according to the vast majority of the Imams of Law, Salaf and Khalaf (early and late authorities) who concur that the meaning of "will cut off his prayer" is not literal but means: "will make his prayer imperfect" due to the distraction they will cause in people's hearts, while Imam Ahmad considered that only the passing of a black dog actually invalidates it. This was mentioned by Imam al-Nawawi in Sharh Sahih Muslim and al-Mubarakfuri in Tuhfa al-Ahwadhi.

Daily Horoscope for December 27

If you haven't seen certain people during the past few days, how about inviting them over for a drink or a meal? You're feeling sociable and will enjoy doing some light entertaining although you'll draw the line at anything too strenuous. It's a lovely day for being in familiar surroundings with some familiar faces, even if all you do is flop on the sofa.
