Elizabeth City is a dump, "The Elizabeth City Police Department has also never had this kind of beating happen - at least not in the last few decades." Give me a break, I guess the gang violence, stabbings and murder doesnt bother this detective, but oh no! Not a bar fight. I mean jesus look at this link, http://www.wavy.com/dpp/news/local_news/major... , I guess 72 violent felonies are forgotten when the army or blackwater is involved. Why arent you people all crying about this....do some research. Ra Tards.

Absolutely terrible reporting. Elizabeth City is a horrible town. The full story was not issued. That man and a few of his friends provoked the fight. Get both sides, and then issue a story.

I'm always intrigued (unfortunately) and equally disturbed when my comrades (brothers) are involved in a incident. More importantly, I shutter at the through of their fate. Believe me, if it were up to "some" of the current, self righteous, support averse, acquiescent decision makes; they would figuratively "burn my brothers at the stake". All of these men are dedicated professionals, patriots, fathers and sons who have made a mistake. You can support them without supporting the actions involved. Does the term "insulate don't isolate" sound familiar to anyone. I would challenge those who conflate this isolated incident with "business as usual" to remain mute, if nothing else. Before you close the door and turn your backs on them, please consider "all things" to include the "fact" that they are fought and sacrificed, done irreversible damage to relationships with loved ones and stood between our Nation and it's enemies while everyone else went about their business. Pray for all those involved.

Six Special Forces soldiers against one civilian. These highly trained psychopaths needed to be kept on a short leash. Now they will carry their fighting skills to prison, and eventually back to the streets where they can prove their mettle against some other unsuspecting sap.

Innocent until proven guilty.
For those who remember that we live in a nation of laws,
lets let a jury of their peers decide if the law was violated.

You are an idiot if you believe that... First of all these brave men who defend you rights (to be an idiot) and freedoms (to talk like an idiot) are innocent until proven guilty. How anyone could believe the BS that man said has to be an idiot. The truth will hopefully come out in court and I bet it didn't happen the way it was reported.

These Special Forces Soldiers are good soldiers! Mr. Howard is a liar and should be a man and talk about his part in all this! The facts are Mr. Howard started a fight got his butt kicked and is now crying all over town about it!

It is so typical for the small town average Joe to get his ego bruised after getting his ass kicked in a self provoked fight to only turn around and cry foul!!! You can't pick a fight and be an ass without reporcussions. Hell in England it is perfectly normal for someone to get drunk at a bar and take a fight outside, have it out and that be that. Why is it the American people have gotten this self rightous attidude that they can run their mouths. I will be interested to see what is on film if anything being as titty bars in NC are required to have cameras. But you people cannot honestly believe that special forces war veterans in the prime of their CAREERS are going to risk it to use their "training" as you have called it to beat up some smuck at a strip club!!! These are fathers and husbands who support their families with their hard work, give them a little credit and don't be so quick to condem. Don't drink the koolaid!!!!!

These men were arrested on assault charges. The evidence of the assault is obvious. A judge does not care who said what to whom. Words are NEVER an excuse for assaulting anyone. The police and magistrate involved never would have pursued an arrest if they did not feel confident of a conviction based on the evidence, ie.: a victim with a fractured skull.

Besides, a Green Beret should not have used such violence against anyone unless he was truly in danger. An old drunk presented very little danger to one Green Beret, let alone an entire squad.

the detective in this story is a complete idiot!!!! and so is the reporter!!!! to say that they've never had any trouble like this in the past decade or more is totally preposterous!!! the sf guys were wrong to loose their cool but i would be my bottom last dollar the guy or guys they beat up provoked the whole incident and are not the angels they are potrayed in this story. who in the world takes their 21 yr old son to a strip bar to celebrate!!!! talk about good parenting there brother~!

What were 'Special Forces', supposedly the 'best of the best', doing at a strip club to begin with? What ever happened to 'honor' and 'integrity'? I guess these goons skipped that day at basic. Six guys can beat up one guy at a bar but no one can seem to find Bin Laden. Focus, people, focus.

SF doesn't mean perfect or without sin........they are human beings. why would a President think he could have oral sex in the oval office??? they should not have been there in that club...i give you that one but they were and they messed up. anytime you want to help the cause to find Bin Laden....then go for it my friend!

Arent you wondering what Mr. Howard's role was in all this? Or his sons role in this? These 6 men would not risk their careers for no reason. You are talking about why they were in a strip club... I agree with sfmom.. They are human beings and that is something that they have to deal with at home just like many other men is the country who get caught watching porn or get caught at a strip club. It happens all over its just not in the news! Is that part of our business? NO! Let their wives deal with that. These men are obviousley not speaking about the situation yet... They got in a fight with these men and it want for no reason, there are always 2 sides to the story.

I dont care who started what. Nobody should ever get the crap kicked out of them. Especially 4 skull fractures. I personally know Travis he dated my sister and my sister is very upset. Travis is a wonderful man. I dont care about the military guys who did this to Travis. They are worthless and from the pictures the only action they look like they will get is in a topless bar. What girl would want them.

As mentioned above....what is thought of the countless innocent lives lost do to gang violence and drug traffiking? These men chose a carrer path that to me is most honorable. They are human beings that are assumed to be psycho killers just because ther are SF? Fuck that, they served there country with far more purpose than all you accusers on this bullshit forum. Granted, im sure travis was a nice fellow but that doesn't make him a victim in this. He lost so the victors look like the bad guys. Don't ASSUME things when you don't know the whole story. People who disrespect men who sacrifice there lives and possibly there mental health for this country can go fuck themselves.
