Several other states are welcoming Internet Sweepstakes Cafes. Interested in ownership opportunities?

im one of the people that was there and when you all came to sweepstakes the enployee didnt say the owner wasnt around and never would be she said she didnt want to talk to you because she wasnt the owner. i just want to say its nice to have a place for me and my husband to sit down without anyone drinking and have some fun in ore lives together. why should low to medium income families have to drive to virginia beach and norfolk to the bingo halls just to have a shot at winning money. thats not fair to us. i also enjoy the fact that they do charities for our children to get better learning, the red cross and the salvation army, all which can help our city. you want south norfolk to become better then do that, dont take away things that has even showed to help other cities prosper. instead of taking away try adding roads that wont make us have to pay for new tires. i was about to lose my home and would have if i didnt go there and win the money i did.

Talk about mis-leading, when did our libraries have anything at no cost, or did Cliff donate the land, buildings, books, etc for everyone to use.

So because some cant control themselves the other 98% have to go without. I have been working at a sweepstakes for over 8 months now. I was unemployed for 17 months. I have to say that I have never seen nor heard of anyone losing there homes and bill money. Almost all the customers that come in are retired. "Are there people out there that lose money ?" yes. The same ones that play and go overboard on the lottery and bingo ! But the majority do not!

Internette offers no respect or promises to the patrons. They offer internett time and drawings which the players do not get to see. They discourage broke players from using the internette time they bought.Several players have lost thier homes, phones, and personal belongings. They are left with just enough pride not to admit it.

Explain to me again why these places endanger the public...

Cliff Hayse should be standing out in front of Blakeley's "night club" trying to close down that dump because every night they let out after one of their gansta' rap shows, there is always some gun play in Great Bridge that is imported from every garbage neighborhood from South Norfolk to Newport news and beyond

Drive down Poindexter Street and look at all the empty stores. There is nothing there but second hand stores and barber shops that sell drugs. The should be begging these "sweepstakes cafes" to open up there.

Look at "The Gateway to SONO" the taxpayers paid for. There is nothing in there but an eye doctor and a physical therapy office for welfare cheats trying to cash in on accident lawsuits

If some retard wants to burn their money on bingo and internet gambling, then let then do it. They are hurting nobody but themselves.

If I ruled Virginia and Chesapeake, I would allow a casino to operate at "The Gateway to SONO". You would see hotels srring up by the Jordan Bridge where the city wasted 30 million dollars to get rid of lead soil at the old J G Wilson property and the tax dollars would roll in

Gamblers are retarded and we need to start taking advantage of them

by definition bingo is gambling but because our churches ok them it is okay most of the retired community bingo and with the same mouth shun any other notion of gambling except lottery.we need more of these places within the hotels here in chesapeake we are too minute in our thinking look at the jobs the hotel in other areas offer(ie)maintenance, security, floor people, the city would grow nevertheless let us blame all the wrong and each other the city visionaries need to go back to sleep and have a new vision they are task walking enforcing things that don't help this city.

There is NO difference in the state of VA not letting a minor buy a lottery ticket and not letting a minor in the Internet Cafes....Why would you want to close down something that is helping turn your own economy around? It is providing jobs for people that did not have one, a nice environment for people to come to an feel safe, there is no alchol allowed on the property. There is no difference in me taking my chances by buying a lottery ticket, that you so easily sale and say it is OK, than me going to a sweepstakes hoping for the same thing. And also, you need to be educated on these business, they are giving back to your community by donations of the cities choice. It is a win, win situation for both the business owner and the cities that are allowing these businesses to operate. Also, I can go play Bingo or go buy a Pepsi or a sandwich at McDonalds for the same reasons I would go to the sweepstakes business. I am taking a chance on winning something!! What is the difference, really, think about that!! If people are lossing their families and money on these companies they are the ones with a problem, just like a drug addict. The stores are NOT making people come in, just like you are not forcing someone to do drugs off the street, they will do as they want thru their own weakness's, so dont try to blame that on Sweepstake Cafe's they are NOT to blame. They are HELPING you NOT hurting your cities. I am amazed of the attention that is being focused on these companies, and VA has been selling lottery tickets for how long??? If you choose to close down these companies than I would suggest you are NO longer allowed to sell lottery tickets or allow McDonalds, Pepsi, etc. to have any sweepstake games or prize giveaways, because there is NO difference in the two at all, and lets not forget Bingo also, that would have to go too! It would be in the best interest for everyone to allow these companies to continue, and they will continue to give back to your city to make it a better place for all!!!!!!!!

What is the difference in that situation and someone who is a drug addict?? They need help. You cant stop people from selling and buying drugs, so dont ya think they will play these casinos some where else they are legal?

Mr. Hayes, no disrespect to you, but if selling lottery tickets in VA is ok, why do you not allow a minor to buy them? I would like to think because minors are children and adults can make their own decisions based on the consequence of their actions. These places are helping the community not hurting them. Your city will lose money because these people spending their money their now will only go to another city and play and allow that community to grow, not yours.
