Hey let's make it easier and less of a punishment on these kids to get their hands on alcohol and marijuana. They are so responsible at this age that nothing like this would ever happen. PLEASE VOTE NO on 2.

I didn't read that marijuana was identified in this situation. But I can see your point about the alcohol.
VOTE YES ON QUESTION 2 but MAKE ALCOHOL illeagle.

No, that's not correct, no one is in jail for being "caught with" half an ounce unless they were selling it. So you need not worry that your taxpayer dollars are being wasted as almost every pot arrest was part of another arrest in Mass.

Good reason to decriminalize it.

In 2006 Marijuana possession arrests were 40% of all drug related arrests in massachusetts.. Lets vote yes on 2.. and see how effective the "war on drugs" really is.... without hiding behind simple marijuana possession arrests.

Irony.. at least 4 of the district attorneys have admitted smoking marijuana.. and they seem to have done fine for themselves.. as a matter of fact... the DA's should use a new statistics.

At least 40% of DA's in mass have smoked marijuana. about the same amount they quote for inmates in jail..

so the new statistic can be.. pot smokers have just as much of a chance to be a District attorney as they do a criminal..

I am not sure why people are turning this tragic story into a political forum- there are forums set to discuss the questions, so if you want to join those discussions, please take them to the proper arena... My heart goes out to the family of this girl- may they find peace.

Nope...just had a lot of experience dealing with adolescents,(careerwise, fostering, my own 4). Unless the poor child met with foul play, she would not have died by smoking pot. I have counseled families who have lost children from alcohol poisoning, or alcohol related accidents...both vehicular and other..never had that heartbreaking chore with pot...never had a kid admitted to an emergency room from pot smoking either. I would like to se alcohol prohibited again...but it didn't work the first time...and too many adults like a drink...some too often...so it will never happen. Instead, all this hoopla about how dangerous pot is, which is totally untrue. Again, my heartfelt sympathy to the family.

So if you believe that someone should not go to jail for having an oz of pot because they aren't hurting anyone...why not people with no license drive too, as long as they don't hurt anyone. A law is a law. You don't just change them to make it easier for people. I tell me kids all the time you can't pick and choose your laws to obey. Oz or pound they belong in jail. If you can't do the time don't do them crime. They know it is a crime to have any marijuana. Get over it. Ever heard of a gateway drug? Or here is a thought...it gets laced all the time by some loser drug dealer who is out to increase his client base. I am so sick of hearing of how it is safe. Think about the people you know who smoke pot and tell you it is natural it is all good. How do they act? How old were they when they started smoking pot? That should say it all. I want better for my kids and you would think you all would too. Vote no on question 2.

a law is a law.. It used to be laws for black people to use different bathrooms.. should we go back to it? as you don't simply change them to make it easier for people.. after all a law is a law right.. It used to be law we could own slaves and must carry a shotgun to church on sunday.. but..hey.. a law is a law right? The great thing about laws.. is that they are changeable after people think about the sillyness of them.. Thats why question 2 need to be voted yes on..

The truth is simple marijuan possession is a way for the DA's to hide the utter failure of the "war on drugs" in a sea of simple marijana possession (a "drug" that is less dangerous or addictive then alcohol OR tobacco...)arrests... 40% of all drug arrests in mass to be exact. The time has come to hold them accountable to actually persuing the war on drugs against chemically menufactured narcotics that actually are a threat enough that they cause people to rob and steal to get the next fix.. not arresting people.. who have done the same thing as AT LEAST 4 OF the district attornies admit too..

lastly.. its for the children is getting old.. I for one don't want to live in a nanny state.. where every law is passed "for the children" .. lets heavily police the internet.. for the children, etc.. every law thats passed they just say.. its for the children.. enough already.. Parents if you want to pop out kids.. watch them already and teach them right and wrong and take a little responsibility yourself.. or dont have kids.. with a $1000 fine levied on parents that dont care enough to get thier kids.. this gives crappy parents a little incentive to do the right thing.. ask the brookline police department.. they agree
