I am not a smoker, I am a former smoker by choice, but I know many that do. It is their decision. But you now only have a car and a home to smoke in. Stop making cigarettes and stop selling them if you don't want people to smoke.

You can drink at home too and it's alot safer. Smoking or drinking can kill you, but I'd rather be around a smoker than a heavy drinker.

The point is: Non-smokers have a first priority right to NOT have to breathe in second hand smoke from smokers. In nature, there is no cigarette smoke anywhere, so a cigarette smoke-free environment is what God intended for humans.

If you want to smoke, fine. But, do it where you do not infringe on the first priority rights of non-smokers. This has been way too long in coming.

Good riddance!

Senators turned back an attempt by Sen. John Alario, D-Westwego, to exempt casinos from the ban and another amendment by Sen. Nick Gautreaux, D-Abbeville, to let bars allow smoking.

"We live in America. What do people fight for?" Gautreaux said. "They fight for our freedom of choice."

Marionneaux replied that freedom shouldn't include the right to make people sick from secondhand smoke. "I know the cost of freedom, but I also know the cost of secondhand smoke," he said.

What Gautreaux does not understand is that in this situation, NON-SMOKERS have fought for their freedom of choice, and won!
