My friends, one more drink for my friends...Boondocks is/was different. The bar seemed like a sports bar, but isn't, seemed like an Irish pub, but really wasn't (except a couple times a year), wasn't like a Cheers, wasn't really a biker bar, but biker friendly, wasn't really a karaoke bar, but tried, wasn't a club, but DJs tried occasionally, etc. Boondocks had a bit of everything one day or another. The place used to be a burger king, then a restaurant or two, then Boondocks. What's next?

No surprise this place is closing. Fake management, theft, no one cared, bar owner too busy screwing around to see what was happening. So is this revenge on employees, the landlord, an ex? What goes around comes around
Stop jumping to conclusions. Woody isn't a quitter. If Woody wants you to know, he will let everyone know. Otherwise, it is his personal business. Did you even go to the bar? If so, hopefully you find another place...far, far away...

Wow. Didn't know the owner got a DUI. Can a bar lose its liquor license because of that in Riverside?

Boondocks goes on! Woody made a deal with the Devil! Hopefully the exodus to Slam Dunk and Water Wheel slows down...More places are trying to pick up the exodus and new places are opening, like Rockfellas on Temescal

Definitely a deal with the devil! No more Rough House band at Boonies. Best band ever at boonies and always packed the house. So, yeah, that makes a lot of sense? Sounds like the entertainment is being monopolized and the place is moving in a different direction. What's next, mariachi and rap? As the who said, the exodus is here...they're all wasted

Boondocks...who cares? The place sucks! Much better entertainment venues are popping up. Even if there is a cover at other bars, you get what you pay for, instead of, in my opinion, the free crappy DJs, crappy KJs, crappy bands, crappy food, crappy drinks,...

Boondocks will live on. Maybe Dempsey's should close; everything else in that center seems to be closing. It's hard to keep a bar open these days. Maybe if there were better transportation options, the bars in this town wouldn't go out of business. The bars should just have a drive you home deal or have a breathalyzer stations and a waiting area for those that need to sober up before allowed to leave...It's too risky and worrisome to go to a bar these days, unless you keep it to one drink an hour or close to it.

Went to Boondocks last night. The band was pretty good. Not many people were there. Maybe a dozen people at 10:30PM, if that. Where did everyone go?

Seen most of the crowd at Slam Dunks, some at water wheel. It appears many of the Boondocks patrons are tired of the crap. Some people get to know and get comfortable with their bartenders. Boondocks hasn't realized this and gets rid of the bartenders that people come to the place for. Now those patrons are going where the fired bartenders are leaving Boondocks without patrons. WTF were they thinking? Keeping bartenders without personalities, smiles, sense of humor, or wit = bad business practice = loss of business = failure

Absolutely! There were certain bartenders that people went to see. If it wasn't for those couple of bartenders, the place would be empty, which it currently is. So now instead of admitting to the bartender mistakes, the place is going to start new gimmicks and entertainment. We will see what happens in the next few months. To me it seems simpler then it probably is. Good food and good bartenders to draw people in. Decent entertsinment that flows and is thought out. Do not tailor to the few while the rest leave the building. Have the entertainment analyze errr pay attention to the majority of the bar, not one or two dancers. keep the people engaged by feeling part of the place. Dont lose customers by letting atmosphere die after a band takes a break. Wait a minute, they should be paying for this...lol

Was there 6/7, the place was fairly empty. There was a DJ that was fairly decent, but not for Boondocks. Simply put, it is not "Club" Boondocks. Who's ide was that? Emptied the place right out. Not the DJs fault. Boondocks is a classic rock, rock new music type of a place. Throw away another Friday night's worth of potential income for Boondocks. I did meet the new owner. Hopefully he learned from this "mistake." Getting ready to follow the rest of the crowd out the door to find another "Irish" pub or sports bar

Most of the bars now have themes and gimmicks. Whatever happened to the basic local pub?

Went to Slam Dunk last Friday. The place was fairly empty. Didn't see any Boondocks "former" customers. Maybe people are just staying home...

I have seen the people from Boondocks at the Water Wheel. Stopped in on 6/28 to check out the music scene. In one word...lame. Why good musicians play that type of music, in an Irish pub, is beyond my understanding. So if I am not mistaken, bars make money selling drinks. When women dance, they are not drinking. Old dance music does not assist people to drink. One look at the bartenders trying to keep busy by cleaning tells the story. Why don't the bands pick up on this. Real simple, try different genre of music and have someone check out the sales. Then use that information to make the bar money. If the bar manager is smart, they will also be watching this. They can then select bands that make the bar money, and pass on the bands with the genre that doesn't work for that bar. The owner will think they are the bomb. It isn't rocket science. If the people booking the bands aren't using music science/psychology, then boondocks deserves to go out of business. Is the booking agent simply suggesting bands based on booking fees? They sure don't know what they are doing. Unless they are getting paid by other bars to put boondocks out of business...
Also, what's up with the facebook page. No information, and when there is, its too late to do any good. Whoever is running that is lame. Get an email list and send invites or info. out early in the week so people can plan and look forward. Oh yeah, I forgot. With the lame bands people will have more time to pick another bar... Boondocks needs to hire a booking manager that has a clue and get rid of whoever is currently killing the business. Until the place gets with it, I'll be checking out the Water Wheel or Shamrocks

Good points. I don't think there is much effort by the management to run Boondocks to be successful. It appears that it is more of just walking through the minimum paces and least expenses to be able to pay bills. Are there any full-time managers? If so, I would probably be looking to replace them. Haven't seen the owner much either (but I know he has a day job). Hopefully the new owner can put some effort in the right direction into this place. You are right about the facebook page. Very lame. No one really uses it as there is almost no pulse from Boondocks on their own page. Facebook is social media, which needs social interaction. Post some photos, give some advance notice of events and bands. Oh well, I think it is pointless. No one cares, so why should the customers...

Let's see: Mil Creek closed, the lounge closed, Fender museum closed...Maybe Boondocks is next. There is no management. That is the problem. No one is there to monitor interaction of the customers with the music. If the music isn't working, it should be changed right away, not after people left for another venue...We are in a new age. The customers have choices. If you do not cater to the majority of your customers, you will end up with a minority that will not pay your bills. Yes, there is no rocket science here
