What is the rush ? Sounds like "someone" is trying to push this down the throats of the people of Capitan, maybe?

Has Conquest really looked around Capitan and asked themselves any questions? Like, what is wrong with this picture? Hate to break it to that girl, but it will never be like that town she talked about, for a few 'simple' reasons.. A strong and thriving town is built from a wise and passionate governing body. Guess which is missing in Capitan?

Holy sheet man. We have so little water the reality is that by 2014 we will have to truck it in. And when I say we, I mean the seven of you who stay on the baren, decaying mountain. Those beetles that got the trees? They're coming for your cabins. The only way this plan gets approved is if bribery takes place because its a no brainer. No more development. Fix the infrastructure.

You can't be serious? You follow the teachings of a philosopher who taught that all striving and straining were meaningless? Is this the extreme to which Tea Party members in LC have gone?

What does the tea party have to do with this issue? Please enlighten me. I do agree with bosley. Current infrastructure, water and other issues need addressing first.

Dear holier than thou, I think the key word was despised. A leader highly disdained by his people is nothing but detrimental to its community.

Was he elected once? Was he elected twice? That's democracy, not rule by a few sore losers. Have a nice day.

"A possible quorum of the Village Trustees, the Planning Board, and the Water Board may attend the workshop scheduled by Advanced Design Building, LLC regarding Conquest Investments property on Monday, August 13, 2012 at 6:00 PM at Village Hall located at 114 Lincoln, Capitan. No official actions will be taken."
Seriously, the people have no say in this matter . It will be rammed down their throats sooner than later. And they will be paying for it for years to come.

Why would anyone want to reside in or near a slum like Capitan? It's disgusting, decayed and done- as in over. The very thought of this proposed new residential subdivision is outrageous and the motives for trying to push this project cannot be anything but criminal. Capitan should make a good ghost town in about ten years or so.

It's all about water folks and your greedy politians have sold you down the river for a long time-now the river is gone, the water has dried up, and you are going to see those guys pull out as fast as they can with their pockets loaded. I have relatives in the area who are trying to get out but there are no buyers for their property...at any price. I am concerned for both their safety and their future.

Sadly , you are all right. It does seem much like a ghost town already. And , Victor, if the wonderful elected powers that be dont bother to take care of current problems and infrastructure, who can be assured they will do it in the future ? Victor can only hope they are the ones who survive the next election...Lol. Having a great day, thanks.

Remember the letter to the editor a few years ago from the lady in Capitan who said her old high school chum told her that he and the mayor were going to get rich over this deal? Of course it doesn't make sense to the non politicians, it's not suppose to enrich the community, it's suppose to enrich the mayor and his buddy.

Vic is confused. This forum isn't about elections at all. It isn't even about who got elected. It's all about what the great elected ones are doing after they get their power in office. How they are looking out for the good of the community?....or in this case NOT?. Or how they are looking out for just a few good buddies and themselves?...as in this case...YES? Vic, bud, if you want to talk elections, go to the doc Seidel forum. Now that really ought two be right up your alleyway. 😂

So, the meeting basically said they will do this regardless of what the Capitan citizens want ? Let them build on county land then, don't let them annex. The county rules are stricter and Capitan has no rules in place, so rushing it through benefits the developer not the citizens , right? And in the end, that will require the complex be maintained by the county ...the roads, the infrastructure, services like garbage and law...etc. Capitan cannot afford to take the risk in my opinion.

I think they need to make the whole town more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Starting with the main street. I mean, if companies want to invest, aren't they going to want to insure people will actually want to stop first ? So many empty buildings, and , well, no shops really. So they think everyone will just zip thru town and head straight for the new stores? Doubt it.
