Very good information! Now we all know the real deal, so spread the word!

Maybe we need to print that out and give it all those that dont use it....

yes, good to know the law here...but what if you are going 65-70 in a 70mph zone and someone is behind you....should you pull over so that they can "speed"....it makes sense if you are going 10 or more mph less than limit, but it seems more and more people just "expect" you to pull to the side so they can speed by...that is what seems dangerous. and the law does say "you must go the speed limit"

I find it easier just to stay on the shoulder when driving over the speed limit. That way nobody has to pull over onto the shoulder for me to pass. It also makes it a lot easier to play mailbox tag with my grill guard.

If you are going 65 in a 70, then yes, you should move over. It's just the nice thing to do. I set my cruise and I don't want to mess with it if I don't have to. If I am going under the posted limit, I promise I always move over.

Now, if I am going at or slightly above the posted limit, I normally don't move over, but there are few times when I actually have that issue. Normally, its not a problem.

Rule of thumb. If you look back (and you should look back from time to time) and you see more than one car behind you. Thats your cue! Pull over and let them pass!

I drive the speed limit and I still try to let the idiots pass me to try to avoid an accident. If they are right on my bumper then there is now way they can stop in time if I had to brake real quick for a deer or something. The driver behind me isn't following the safe distance rule when they are right on my bumper.

Think about this... If you set your speedometer at 70 and your car is a little off, then you may only be going 68. Like I said, I like to set my cruise and I will eventually ease up on you... I am not a tail gater personally, but I know some are. Just keep in mind that there may be some differences in your speeds due to that.

I agree that speedometers will be off a little. I guess you will always have those people who want to be leader of the pack and get ahead of everybody even though you are driving the speed limit. You can tell even if your speedometer is off a little that the nut flying by you is going a whole lot faster than the posted speed limit and soon is seen from a good distance ahead. I was driving in Dallas one time doing 70 and a older couple was behind me honking the horn because I guess they thought I was going too slow. I was in the right hand lane. Was I suppose to speed and drive 80 or 90 so they could get somewhere quicker? I don't think so!

What's wrong with waiting until you have a dotted yellow line on your side to pass...especially if the person in front of you is going no more than 5mph below limit?...just seems safer and more logical

have you ever given the thought, that maybe there is some one or some thing in the car, that requires a slower and safer speed, and just maybe pulling over to the rough side will cause the cargo to wake up and cry, or tip over and spill all over the car?

My issues are with those people that seem oblivious to everyone and everything around them. If your not going to drive the speed limit, then please move over.

I am not too worried about those that are just a few mph under me, its those that are 10 mph and wont move over...

Daily Horoscope for December 23

Aries

Don't get embroiled in a bad-tempered skirmish today, for it might turn into more than that if you aren't careful. Everyone seems to be ratty and argumentative, but once you let the first spat take place it's effectively declaring open season. Even though things seem out-of-joint, keep your lines of communication open.
