Pardon me for not knowing ;) but does and Athletic Director HAVE to be the football coach or can the AD be someone else...in another sport?

Answer my question and I will tell you why with a follow up.

Thanks (I posted here because there was too much LOVE/hate going on between Wayne and Jim in the other threads)

No, but since football is god in my places the Athletic Director normally is a football coach. One can get a more quality head football coach if they can pay them Athletic Director pay.

I just had a thought...(a haphazard one at the most) Whoever the most succesful coach is the year prior gets offered the AD job with, of course, a monetary bonus. There are so many ways this could be looked at and mulled over but I thought it was an idea that might get some interest.

They are all backed by the AD. He is the one that hired them. It was a good idea, but you dont cut the throat of the guy that hired you. Best thing to do is stand behind the current AD and go throught the growing pains or lets just start over. Its been 3 years....

I don't stand behind or in front of the current AD....don't even know the guys name really. Oh and I don't really care that much about High School Sports or politics....AND this idea could only fly under a brand new administration when there is a house cleaning of sorts....I don't advocate this idea here or now...I just thought it was an idea worth mulling over. I think the coaches would be bending over backwards to get their kids to succeed so they would have a fighting chance at an extra $10K -$20K....and not too much extra work involved! There would be logistics, not saying there would not be....just an interesting thought.

Coaches competing against each other cant be a good idea. They need to all work together and share the rewards. It would be nice just to get the whole town to support the program instead of just half. I think there could be some possible back stabbing going on for a extra 10-20k.

"They need to all work together and share the rewards"

I don't understand that statement...please clarify.

Yes, there might be backstabbing but since when is there not on any High School campus around the entire USA?

I look at it as healthy competition :)

If we are paying an extra $10-$20 grand, why not pay the freakin teachers!!! Seriously, I am all for sports and think that a good program can do wonders inside and outside the classroom, but I really think that teachers are very very underpaid! Sorry, not this forum's topic...just a peeve of mine!

Cannot argue with that. As sports minded as I might be, education should always remain first. Not many of these kids gonna make a living as professional athlete. I know a school where the AD made more than the supt. WTF!!

There is no I in team, therefore they share the rewards and the regrets. I can see where someone would want to be the AD and competition would make for a better performance. Everyone seems to get a little lazy when there is job security around. Nocona,AD and job sercurity never gonna happen here. We fire them when they lose and we fire them when we win. I guess that does sound like a good idea after all. Ingore the above.

No. He is getting into a new house so that he doesn't have to rent and he can raise his children in a house he actually owns. He is still coaching here.

i've been told that the AD gets paid over 100,000 a year? Any truth to this? It really wouldn't surprise me, but I mean come on, there are teachers who don't even have enough books for all their students and the damn school board tells them to just copy pages for them or share a book! Are you serious? Do they not expect to give them homework? The nocona school system has been screwed up for so many years! I could see putting in some money for the football program, if they were any good, but they aren't!

You were told wrong & obviously you are quite gullible. You need to decide if you are going to believe everything you are told. Use your brain a little. Give our school board a little more credit - I doubt they've told any teacher to just copy pages out of a book - but I will play along. Who is the teacher, what does he/she teach, & when were they told to just copy pages?

Hmmmm... One playoff year with a first round pounding by cisco....then a 4-0 start against not so great teams and then when it came down to district they choked. not exactly what i call winning seasons. I praise the kids for their hard work but the AD is not a competent coach.

A winning record is a winning record, doesn't matter what YOU call it. What was our previous records before this "incompetent coach" came to Nocona?(I know the awnser to my question - do you?) Things are going in the right direction, despite what negative people like you think. If you are really a CONCERNED OBSERVER you would have observed this.
