In his case, I would've brought a stun gun to school too. Administration is not doing anything, in fact, they are saying it's his fault. I would be scared for my own health as well and would want some protection of a sort.

Unfortunately, in Indiana-noplace, the school board is most likely composed of fundie bigots. The only thing that will make a school system change their ways is a big, fat LAWSUIT! Sue the bejesus out of them!

"Grimes has said she gave Young the stun gun"

He and his mother should be arrested for bringing a weapon to school and the school needs to press criminal charges.

Again (and again!).. Don't just sue the school.. sue the bullies' parents who are the culprits and ultimately to blame..

Do it, tell the school to do it. In this case, the student could up the ante and press *criminal* charges against the school for reckless endangerment and everything else that implicates the school in a capacity identical to that of the bullies.

I would *dare* the school to do this and cross-press criminal charges instantaneously. I also hope the student documented instances of harassment; extensive documentation will demolish this school district in court -- trust me.

Public vitriol against bullying of this sort has all but *guaranteed* that students with real cases are practically bankrupting districts. You might have a really, really severe mental problem and a complete inability to grasp this, but no student *NO MATTER WHAT* you or anyone else thinks of them can be subjected any longer to this type of harassment.

And they won't. Mark my words. The ball has gotten rolling on this, bigtime.

Have this district attempt to press "criminal" charges. A good lawyer will make them rue the day, belieeeeeve me. I hope they attempt it. One can only hope.

And in some cases, they *won't* learn. Some of these students are going to be causing severe financial problems for these school districts, and the districts have only themselves to thank.

Doesn't matter anymore, seriously, what *anyone* thinks of gay people. Those determined to see it as "choice" and all this other vomit and shit can think what they want; what they *cannot* do any longer is abuse these people for reasons they have INVENTED for inflicting abuse. This needs to stop and it needs to stop even if it's causing these school districts a financial panic. Enough is enough.

Like the "palin" person said above, I hope the district attempts to press "criminal" charges and royally pisses off the student's lawyers. That would be even better.

First amendment right to freedom of expression? I'm sure the founding fathers are rolling over in their graves if they know that the right to free speech is being used in this manner. School administrators have a responsibility to make rules to keep order in their schools. In many cases that has meant requiring school uniforms. Schools are for learning, not showing off how weird you are. Are flamboyant gays a new construct? I went to school for many years without once seeing a guy with his mother's purse and jewelry. What was up with that? No gays back then? Or did gays simply not clamor for attention back then like they do now?

This is why public schools are such failures as school uniforms and dress codes are ideal for everyone.

This kid seemed to have some need for attention .

Did they pick on you while you attended school?

I can imagine they did but you seem to have adapted well after such a horrid experience ,pffffffffft.

I would have stuck up for you if I had been there by suggesting the school kick you out as to end your suffering.

You are ill, you should be locked up and not released under any circumstances because you are a danger to society.

Instead of bringing a weapon to school, he should have filed police complaints against his tormentors, and recorded their actions on a celfone.

And I don't care WHAT a school says about a student not being allowed to possess a celfone during school time. It is a SAFETY DEVICE nowadays. NOBODY should leave their home without a celfone for SAFETY REASONS.

When I leave my home and am on foot, I NEVER leave without my celfone which has, amongst other things, gps capabilities.

When I leave my house and am in my car, I NEVER leave without my celfone, a handheld gps device, my notebook pc which has gps and mapping software, AND a personal locator beacon (PLB). Everybody should have these electronic safety devices in their cars, and on their person. If everyone carried these electronic devices, which are almost miraculous, I'm sure we would have a LOT less missing people, and a LOT less crime victims in the U.S.

I HAVE been a crime victim a number of times and it is NOT FUN.

So you're saying a person's rights should not be taken into account when they are "weird?" That the school was in its right to say that he caused this bullying?
Well then Pam, you're "weird" for being an inconsiderate piece ofcrap so therefore, we should strip you of your rights.

No, schools are failures because the staff are idiots like you and would tell a student that they're in the wrong when it comes to others bullying them. That's like running someone over and telling them it's their fault you were drunk and they were on THAT part of the sidewalk.
No wonder you're for Sarah Palin, that woman said some dumb shite and you're spewing the same crapola.

I'm confused - I thought you Americans LOVED guns and took them everywhere...

Or did Gunsmoke not show me the real American approach?(loved Cheyenne though... such scenery!)

You can't shout about your right to bear arms and then rescind it, just as you can't shout about your love of freedom and of guns and then expect someone to not follow.

Make up your minds.

Did they pick on you while you attended school? I can imagine they did. The "slow learner" class always gets some abuse from immature teens. I would have stuck you up on top of the flag pole and used you as a piņata.

Every kid who is bullied for any reason at any public school should file a lawsuit against their school. Or are the bully policies meant to protect only homosexuals?
Government could soon be sued and bankrupted right out of the business of educating our kids about how great it is to be "gay".

Bury the government schools under an avalanche of lawsuits until their budgets are busted by legal costs and settlements.
