In any discussion about the Light Brown Apple Moth it must be remembered that there is NO THREAT caused by the LBAM ANYWHERE it is found in the world. The moth has been in the state for decades and has, by CDFA's own admission in their EIR, NOT CAUSED ANY DAMAGE in the state. The moth was misclassified decades ago and the USDA and CDFA refuse to respect modern research and knowledge regarding the real threat of this innocuous insect. In New Zealand, where it has been found for more then 100 years (this is true also for Hawaii, the UK, and everywhere it is native or has been introduced) farmers are required to provide only LBAM-free produce if they intend to export to the US. New Zealand farmers are not subject to quarantines, do not have to have LBAM-free farms, and the government helps these farmers with useful information on control. Our CDFA and USDA are not there to help just prevent farmers from doing their jobs and imposing restrictions. LBAM is easy to control with organic IPM methods.
The ONLY threat of LBAM is the inspections and draconian quarantines imposed on our farmers and the violation of our farms and businesses by the CDFA/USDA. The media and agricultural commissioners have not acted responsibly and need to check the misinformation they promulgate as facts regarding the LBAM and the eradication program.
Be aware that the mating disruption hormones used to reduce the number of LBAM have never had efficacy tests completed in any setting outside of agriculture. The CDFA do not know if these substances will even work. These chemical pheromones have also never been tested for any effects on humans. Please understand that the levels of these artificial substances being used in urban areas are at levels 10's of thousands of times more concentrated than those encountered in nature. What are the effects of these very persistent chemicals on humans? No one knows? Do you want to accept that risk?
Resist the quarantines, ask questions, get educated (Northern California resisted after the CDFA sprayed regions of Santa Cruz and Monterey counties with synthetic chemicals never meant for or tested for exposure to humans and without any efficacy tests on how these treatments might work), urge reclassification of LBAM. Refuse to sign compliance agreements until all of your questions are answered. Stand up and fight with legal challenges. LBAM is not a threat, our Ag agencies are the real threat despite the fact their job is to protect us.

A WOLF IS GUARDING THE HEN HOUSE.
BIGGEST THREAT TO CALIFORNIA AGRICULTURE IS A.G. KAWAMURA, THE SECRETARY OF THE CDFA.
A.G. Kawamura, the Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA), has brought the use of pesticides in California to 200 MILLION POUNDS PER YEAR, EVERY YEAR. That is six pounds per person, EACH, for every pregnant lady, fetus, infant, child, teenager, adult and senior.
A.G. Kawamura, the head of the CDFA, is a front man for the large insider privileged chemical companies that manipulate contracts for millions of pounds of unnecessary pesticides that are purchased by California taxpayers for unnecessary CDFA programs and then much of these same pesticides (toxins, poisons) are sprayed back directly onto those unknowing taxpayers that paid for them, paying to poison yourself and your family.
And the false danger of insects is often the theme for the ongoing scam. Farmers have no problem with so many insects but CDFA still forces them to apply pesticides under threat of quarantines, inspections and shutting them down if they resist.
For insects that are truly a nuisance to farmers, it is likely that Kawamura has the insect planted intentionally, so that a chain of events to use more pesticides will occur.
And unfortunately, many of the so-called "Scientists" that support the fake and fraudulent pest programs that Kawamura promotes are out of UC Riverside.
UC Riverside so-called "Scientists" supported the massive state-wide aerial spray pesticide eradication program for the Light Brown Apple Moth (LBAM) that had Kawamura aerial spraying category-3 toxin on children at their homes and schools and telling people it was non-toxic.
This LBAM program has been shown to be a complete fraud, as LBAM has done NO damage in the state of California since it arrived, even though CDFA made numerous false claims of damage to the media and elected officials when trying to get funding for the program. If you have any doubts about this, contact the county agriculture commissioner office directly in any county in California and you will find that there is NO DOCUMENTED DAMAGE from LBAM, quite contrary to CDFA repeated claims.
UC Riverside so-called "Scientists" also support Methyl Iodide, an unnecessary invisible cancer causing and deadly gas to be used to fumigate agriculture fields that will literally destroy the lives of millions of innocent people, including children, in proximity to the Methyl Iodide. Methyl Iodide is used with extreme caution by scientists in carefully controlled indoor laboratories to induce cancer into lab rats. One of the "Scientists" at UC Riverside is reported as the "Inventor" of Methyl Iodide.
A.G. Kawamura and some of these so-called "Scientists" are an insult to the other decent people who are still trying to do decent things at the CDFA and UC Riverside.
