High Expectations

I wonder if the newly elected officials are ready to take over their elected positions and are ready to fulfill the campaign promises that they made at the candidate's forum.
Will Fred Rummage get the roads paved in Riverside Meadows?
Will Karen Payne really recuse herself and not vote on anything that has to do with water and sewer?
Will Fred Rummage really provide the residents in the town within 90 days a true financial picture of the funds available in the School, General, and Utility Accounts?
Will Sparky Ridgley really make sure that the Town's finances are spent responsibly?
Only time will tell.
Good luck to all.

Don't forget the promise that we are going to have a better relationship with the School and the County!

Since the rumors are already flying I'll put in my two cents. There is no way all the roads in the Meadows will be paved. They have to meet VDOT specs, which they don't. Karen Payne is suppose to be the new chair for Public Works Committee, that would include the water and sewer departments. Sparky is after the school finances not the town's. It will be interesting in seeing if council tries to spend money from the state and federal governments that are earmarked for the school system. I have a feeling that the new council will not have fun once they see the town's true financial picture.

The new mayor was seen leaving town around 8:00 p.m. on his first day in office....headed to Montross.....where he lives. Just because one owns property in CB does not make them a resident. If it did, then all the residents of weekend and summer homes here could run for public office. Maybe the new mayor might consider getting rid of his 'vanity' plates on his car so he is not so easily spoted coming and going from his 'home in the woods'

The way I see it: The idiot fools that were brainwashed into thinking that Rummy would save the Town from the hot chambers of Hell have gotten what they deserve. Just wait till Rummy gets backed into a corner and watch his blood pressure rise. As the new mayor, I can't wait till his face turns blood-red and steam billows from his ears while a heated discussion is taking place.'Tween him and Sparky, I'll give'm about 6 months before one of them flips over a table in pure rage. The best is yet to come! Meanwhile, he'll still be a part-time resident of Colonial Beach and will commute from the Montross area every day. We'll all pitch in to keep him accountable. Go get'em CB RUM!

After reading the account of the Town Council Work Session in the Westmoreland News, I have some grave concerns about our New Mayor Fred Rummmage.
Without any input from the Town Council or asking for input from any residents, he appointed his cronies to advisory positions.
He assigned at least two of the Council members to positions that give all the appearance of Conflict of Interest. Mr Coombes has oversight of the Planning Commission and is the Chair and Ms. Payne has oversight of water and sewer the very department that her husband works for.
I wonder if Mr Rummage was elected Mayor or was he elected King.
This is going to be a long four years.

Once again we have a mayor who thinks he is allmighty ruler. In a normal society (every other place besides Colonial Beach) the mayor chairs the Council meetings and represents the Town at public functions. We now have Pete Bone - version 2. But hey, you the majority made it happen.

This site continues to amaze me. Instead of offering at least a small positive consideration all they do is find fault in others. At least give them the opportunity to prove themselve first. Most of these post should start with the phrase "Once Upon a Time" because they are pure fiction, or someone complaining because they didn't get their way. If they are so upset why are they still here? Or better yet hold a elected position themselves...oh no can't do that, may then be held accountable.

As for being king I'll wait and see what else he does.

HE, surely you are lying, Rummage is not that Stupid. Put Karen Payne in charge of her husbands department. If he did that he should be impeached. He is worst than I thought. He is a bully to some and scared to death of others. We are in deep doodoo.

Of 4 canidates you chose Rummmage. Its not like you did not have a choice. Now live with it. Riverside, good luck on your roads. Schools hang in there for your rights. Lord only knows what he has in his crazy head. My advice is go to the meeting and watch and learn. This man is a buffon. He has no substance, only hot air. He is 77 years old and has the beginning of Altheimers.

At the Work Session is for discussion of what will happen at the Formal Council Meeting in July. The appointment made by the Mayor are on the Adgenda for vote by all Council Members. The Mayor makes the recommendation and the Council votes on it. Not a new thing, is done every 2 years when new members come on. Use to be done a committees for different areas.

I am pretty cynical about it, I doubt that they will really change anything. Still, I wish them all the best. Local politics is just plain mean! I don't mean just here in CB but everywhere-people have a tendency to attack each other, even when there is really no one to blame. It's hard work for little reward. I'm glad they are doing it, not me!

Was it Mayor Bone or Mayor Rummage that appointed Karen Payne to her husbands committee. We know its appointed by the Mayor and will be voted on. Which Mayor was stupid enough to make this appointment. Or is this another stupid rumor.

The recommendations were made by the new Mayor Fred Rummage and will be voted on at the July Town Council meeting.
It is at 7:30 PM on July 9 if you are interested in going.
