Although Nicholas Blase is Mayor of Niles this is old time "Chicago Style" politics shaking down local businesses and getting them to buy all their insurance through one particular insurance agency. I wonder what Blase's cut was on the commission?

I guess we will soon see if the person who predicted Saturday that Blase will walk is correct. As this article indicates, the feds have some reason to call off the trial.

Good Riddance you common thief. If you are found guilty, then give the thief the jail time any other thief would get for stealing for so long---George Ryan is old and doing his time in jail for his antics, now Blase, you too, no probation because he's old, so is Ryan..

Have a nice time on vacation. Chicken runs out of town after hosing it for nearly half a century.

What a disgrace you turned out to be under the guise of "serving" all these years. Lining you and yours pockets with your power---how lovely.

Btw, nice gang problem you have in Niles these days Mayor, glad to see you stayed focus all those years on what was best for your town and its citizens. Surely it wasnt your insurance kickbacks as the priority now was it?

More than likely, he has enough dirt on others like him, that he can blackmail the government into letting him off the hook. They would rather set him free, than to air their dirty laundry in public.

This is government, Chicago Style.

Its just plea bargaining. Everyone does it. The guy is 80 and he did lotsa great things for the Villiage. Chief Dean should be his replacement.

This man knows my deceased mothers husband. My mother recently died of cancer and this dignitary from Niles told this man..you should sue because she had mesothelioma and he could get some money. He is a pig his friend, my late mother's husband is a pig. Thick as thieves. I guess if you rule your life taking advantage of people and taking their money then eventually it will catch up with you. Now if it will just happen to my late mothers loser husband.

Is anyone surprised?
This guy was so cooked it's scary!

It's no secret here in the northern suburbs Blase was always on the take.
He's been connected to the Chicago Outfit since the 60's.

There have been numerous reports about his affiliation.

It's the Chicago(Land) way.

Sounds like he should be going to the tax cheating front of a "church" set up by Banker/Realtor George Michael in Chicago...

Unfortunately the "Chicago (Land) Way" of running suburban governments has been spreading.

How does he blackmail the federal prosecutors?
As Scott Fawell shows, if you have dirt, you sing on the others, or your girlfriend goes to jail, too.

Why drop the case just because he resigned? I want the feds to make an example of him, I don't care that he is 80. Send him to jail.
