"Hampton Plaza is a large, for-profit, nursing home..."

I was about to take a shot at the "for-profit, nursing home" industry until I remembered that the alternative is a government run instituion with Todd Stroger or Richie Daley at the top.

Assisted suicide would clearly be more humane.

Two families have just lost a loved one. Could you please keep your inane and inappropriate political rantings at bay for two seconds? We'd all appreciate it.

I bet careless cigarette smoking was the cause of this.

Nope. The victims were elderly Russian Jews. I highly doubt they were smoking.

You can't use elevators in a fire. In a six-story building, how are the residents, many of whom can't walk at all or need assistance, supposed to get out? Why is this legal for nursing homes to be built this way?

While tragic that two people loss their lives, with over 300 elderly residents it is actually gratifying that there were not more casualties. Modern fire codes and prompt fire department response need to be credited.

Hampton Plaza, now there's a surprise. From what I've heard, it's not a very good place.
