You will die in prison. Or maybe they will let you out at the very end. That is quite a proud legacy to leave to your family and your city. Want to bet you end it early ? Enjoy the holidays.

Looks like another entry for the game "Guess the Party Affiliation".

I like this part too - Bob Callero, who was appointed interim mayor, said Blase was innocent, contending he pleaded guilty only to save himself and his family from a long legal process.

Umm. Sure. Whatever you say Bob.

Nothing to see here... move along now. And don't forget to vote (D), because... after all, it's only Republicans who are corrupt.

Niles has low taxes and good services for the residents.

One of the better towns for plowing the streets in the winter.

Blase had a good run it's to bad he couldn't do it legit.

Lets do the math. 30 years at $420,000 total, at least that is what they can prove. 10,950 days at about-are you ready for this? A whole $38.36 a day!

So you are gonna spend 7 1/2 years in the can making at best a nickel an hour. Sounds like a freaking great deal to me.

Say hey to George Ryan for us will ya Nick.

Kass wrote about this guy back in 2006. I doubt he would write about his wife's dad unless he likes a frying pan upside the head.

You seem to have read my mind.

Just what were the motivations of Tribune cub reporters Azam Ahmed and Kristen Kridel in neglecting to mention through their entire piece that Nick Blase was the DEMOCRAT mayor of Niles and was the long-time ringleader of the Niles DEMOCRAT political machine?

In fact he tried to marshall his DEMOCRAT machine to make him the DEMOCRAT Congressman of the 9th district but fell short in the DEMOCRAT primary.

Why is it that I have the funny feeling that if this crook, Blaze, had been the leader of a Republican, rather than a DEMOCRAT cabal, that pertinent fact would have somehow made its way prominently into Azam Ahmed and Kristen Kridel's biased report?

There is some sort of godmother, godfather relationship with John Kass, I am sure one of the loyal researchers out there will clarify the details.

Nice guys can be criminals too!! For god sake this is what the problem is with our citizenry -- they will look the other way if it's someone who has shown them kindness or done a good deed here and there. How about "drawing the line" at what's 'legal' and what's "illegal?" My early childhood friend's father was the envy of all the neighborhood kids because he was always buying us ice cream, bats and balls and having cookouts for all us kids. He was a 'nice guy' but it turned out he was also an 'enforcer' for the mob and went to jail for his illegal activity (no murders that they knew of). I felt bad for my friend and his dad, but I was only 8-9 years old. Start prosecuting illegality as early as possible to avoid future illegality.

Yea... Name the Party affiliation. It's like a game, and shows the Media is just as corrupt as the Democrats they protect by ignoring the party label when reporting a story involving Democrats.
