Minneapolis law, all vehicles (including bikes) are to be driven on the road and off of pedestrian walkways. Get in touch with your drivers manual. And actually, shame on you for being so tactless, or did you not ever consider that a family member, a parent, or in this case a best friend, would never read this? People like you, who are aggressive with "their road" and "their streets" is why tragedies like this occur. Even if you are not one of those people and posted such an ridiculous comment from your pessimistic inner monologue; just as inappropriate. If you're going to be a douche, be a douche at home, and spare the general public the burden of you're presence.

I work by the U. These college kids are the worst bike riders. 10 year old neighbor kids have a lot more street savy than these college kids. I have a feeling too many kids these days don't really learn street smarts...parents are waaaaayyy to watchful. They they become young adults and they don't have a clue.

I am very sorry for this young man and his family and I mean no disrespect.

Everytime I see someone on a bike downtown Minneapolis they drive there bike like they own the road. I seems to me if you are riding a bike you would be extra cautious because if you are hit by a car you are going to lose and lose big time. And another thing I notice is the people on bikes never pay attention to the semepore lights. Wake up people.

The tension in the previous 24 posts probably come from the fact that drivers of both bicycles and cars don't always obey the law, and not everyone is paying attention of everyone else, and everyone has some blame they should shoulder at some times. C'mon folks, we're all just people trying to get from point A to point B. Everyone probably knows someone who commutes to work by bike or by car. We're all just trying to make it with whatever mode of transportation we choose. If folks break the law, be unhappy with that person at that time and quit stereotyping!

In traffic by the U, I passed a city bus (stopped for a pickup in the middle of a block)and a kid (college) came darting out in front of it. I had to slam on my brakes!! I think this kid thought he was getting off a school bus -- nope the city bus doesn't have that stop arm and the driver (or your mommy) ain't watching out for you.

sorry, my previous post was not about bikes, but how young people in general don't have the street smarts that they should

The police need to crack down on bikers to send a message. I dodged a red light runner this morning.

We write them tickets every day, but your liberal Hennepin Co judges throw out the tags. The court has already sent them a message it doesn't matter. Look at the critical mass demonstrations we drive around them like a group of clowns why do you think we do that. Its because of our liberal system. If the city wanted us to do something about it with the support of the court system the problems in the city wouldn't be that difficult to clear up. And that goes for all crime.
