Atalissa men doing well; heating concerns led to evacuation

State officials say the 21 mentally retarded men who were evacuated from an eastern Iowa building late Saturday are receiving medical attention and are doing well.

as long as these men have been there, what about the rumor of verbal, and physical abuse obtained by the men from the louise rich plant, and the crew chiefs in the past year? why hasn't the DHS screened this place at least once a month, knoing that the money, their disablity checks were going to this company

where were the family members?, were they so full of money they didn't want the embarrassment of theses men at home?, also in the state of Texas, if u have no money, or your right mind, this is just an example of the way disabled ppl r done in Texas, the state people r more woried about the pay, at least they were happy, and had food and roof over their heads, more than i can say for the homeless, who live out on the street, and if they had just an electric heater they would be tickled to death, where were all of u great people when they started taking care of these men?????????, funny how u just pop up at a convience, DHS should have been monitoring this place, and if they have everything furnished for them, why would they need alot of money, for some other person to take away from them, and then noone listens to them if it had been reported, becose they are mentally retarted, why was there a social worker be required to stand by for these people, sounds like to me u need to get the ppl that have been crew chief in the last year or so, u could tell they were there for the money, not the health and welfare of these men, knoing what i kno, 20 years back, there was someone to give insulin shots, take them to doctor, or hospital whichever case it maybe, i kno, i lived in it to, and wasn't ashammed of any part of that bunkhouse, or the people who ran it, when there, everybody felt like one big happy family, which these great people have fixed their lives with what years they have left , IN A NURSING HOME, u try living in one, there i can honiostly say u have no rights, everyone should have to live in a N.H., then they can clearly state they have been taken care of, not only that, they will only ecieved 45 dollars of there check, and have none of their life long friends to talk to, we'll see how Happy they are now
