Maybe the owner should've had it on a leash? Should they go to prison? Involuntary dogslaughter?

Ever heard of an city ordinance about the dog being under your control at ALL times?

That means as a responsible pet OWNER, you protect your pet from hazards by, keeping them inside or in a fenced yard, on a restraint under YOUR control, not running loose, in the street to chance injury.

ONLY YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR PETS INJURIES!

Instead of calling posters names, take responsibility for your own actions or in this case inaction, pay the bills associated with your pet, LEARN from this lesson and STFU!

What do you need an eyewitness for? To testify that your dog was running loose and was not under your control? Was the car up in your yard, or was it driving on a public street?

I'm very sorry about your loss, but you need to quit blaming others and take responsibility for your own actions (or lack thereof).

Sorry guy. What do you need the eye witness for? So you can pay for the damage to car. If I hit a dog I would be looking for the owners so they can fix my car. Those people are not responsible for your dog you are.

If they hit your dog in the street you have no case against anyone. Maybe in a morals court for not stopping but not in a court of law. Sorry for your loss but it amuses me that you feel you are owed something for this awful situation. If u do find your eyewitness I wish you the best of luck though.

why r u people being such asses? she said it accidentally got out. have u no compassion? Whether she has a case or not is none of anyone's business. Jesus maybe your kid will run in the street one day & get hit & we'll just say oh well, shouldve had it under control.

Be because you and the op are what's wrong with our town. "Its somebody elses fault, it can't be me, somebody needs to take care of ME!" Step up to the f*cking plate and take some responsibility.

I have plently of compassion for the fact that her dog "accidentally" got out, and that it "accidentally" got hit. I have no tolerance for her claim that it is somehow the driver's fault. How is the driver "accidentally" hitting it any different from her "accidentally" letting it get out? Accidents happen, and they are nobody's fault, that's why they call them accidents.

You seem to be obsessed with the notion that the driver had some kind of legal responsibility to "stop" after hitting your dog. There is no such legal requirement. A driver is NOT required to stop ater hitting an animal on a public thoroughfare under Kentucky or most other state laws. So, "not stopping" is perfectly legal. What good are eyewitnesses? Will you ask them to testify that the driver did something legal?

Did I really read someone comparing car hitting dog to hitting a kid? Nice comparison jackass. I'm an animal lover but that statement is just sad.

i disagree its the same! if u can avoid hitting a kid u can avoid hitting a dog i see no difference at all

If a kid runs out from between parked cars just as a driver is passing, it is highly unlikely that the driver will be able to stop, and the kid is going to get hit.

The DIFFERENCE is...

Under Kentucky Law, a driver is legally REQUIRED to stop, render aid if appropriate, and immediately reoprt the accident if a PERSON is hit by the driver.

There is NO such legal requirement if an animal is hit. This is because Kentucky Law views PEOPLE as being different from ANIMALS. It's not just common sense, it's the law.

If you "dont need everybodys input", and it's "nobodys buisness", then why in the world did YOU start the post about it on a PUBLIC FORUM?

Are you unstable?
