I hope they do not intend to make the kids wear swim wear this year. I think that is ridiculous. Can the pagent workers come up with anything better than that! Last year was completely tacky.

I don't think someone from another county should be alowed to participate. Why bother calling it the Jessamine County Fair Pagents if the whole state can participate. Why should we want a girl from another county represent Jessamine County?????? DOES NOT MAKE SENSE!!!

i think it was very fair to have them in swimsuits that way one family that could afford a 10.00 outfit and one that could aford a 100.00 outfit had the same chance. you must be mad because your kid lost. grow up you kid may have not been the one that caught the eye of the judge or the croud!! it for the kids they don't care if they was first or third just that their name was called!! you are the one that cared STUPID!!!!

I brought up the swimwear issue with the pageant directors themselves, and how I think it's quite ridiculous to have infants and toddlers modeling swimwear. Anyone can gain admittance to the county fair, including pedophiles. When I brought this to their attention, they said it didn't matter. I think it does, and I do hope they return the pageant to Sunday best dress this year. Also, the little girl who won in my daughter's category wasn't even in swimwear. She wore a dress!

I think every Mom, Dad, Grandparent, etc. should be very concerned. I let my daughter ride a merry go round and the lady running it told her to make sure she kept her legs together on the horse (she was wearing a skirt). The operator said she caught a guy with a telescopic lense on his camera taking pictures of the little girls riding the merry go round. The cops busted him and found several thousands of images of little girls he had taken. SO YOU CAN NEVER BE TOO CAREFUL, even if they are just playing at the park!!!! LOTS OF SICK PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD.... So yes, they should go back to their Sunday dresses. You can get cute, cheap dresses for 10.00 bucks too.

I am the Concerned Mom that started this thread.$10 or $100 they are supposd to be judging child not the outfit. And I started this thread to get others opinions and appreciate yours but please do not make this thread out to be like the rest of the nasty threads on here by starting the name calling. My child did not win and I was not made at all. My neighbors child won and I was very glad. So be a good mom and SHOW SOME CLASS

well the only "out of towners" that are allowed are in the MISS JESSAMINE pagent. Lots of counties have open pagents..winning a county pagent is a ticket to state pagent. If you notice there are only a few local girls in the pagent..if it wasnt open we would not have 3 or 4 to partcipate. They made the call to allow out of town girls because they were in jeopardy of not having ANYONE to represent Jessamine Co because of no participation. As for all of the other pagents they are for locals only.

Here is something some of you might not know: Cecil Bradshaw is a convicted Sex Offender- just look it up on the Jessamine County Sex Offender registry- his victim was 15(not sure if it was famiy or not). He remains on The Jessamine County Fair Boards and they state that his past shouldn't bear any type of meaning on it. HAHA!!! If he would victimize a 15 yr old, then no telling what else he might do. When he was convicted, he should have also been made to give up on position as anything in our community. We should not tolerate anyone in our community that is convicted of such a horrible act to remain in any of our community affairs. You REALLY never know someone, but when it becomes public, we need to step up and do something. I don't want to hear anyone say "he's a good man...blah blah"....HE IS A CONVICTED SEX OFFENDER!!!!!! There is no good man who sexually molests, abuses or rapes a woman. PERIOD!!!!!

Well I didn't even put my daughter in the pagent because I didn't feel comfortable with her being in a bathing suit in front of people I didn't know... Because there are really bad people who get off on seeing young kids in bathing suits... I hope they do have them in dress clothes....

I agree little children shouldnt be parased around in swimsuits. I didnt allow my daughter to be in the pagent because of it. And now that I know there is a sex offender on the board she most definatly wont be in it! Does anyone know were I can send a letter to complain about it? Maybe if enough people throw a stink about it they will ask him to step down.

I am also a parent who has put their child in the pagents and last year the reason for changing were for making the children comfortable and every year they change their themes. Last year was the beach theme. They don't want the children to get hot. And when they do they get fussy. And the child is judged on their outfit, beauty, personality. all you have to do is talk with the pagent directors.Every year is a different theme. So this year may be different. Who knows. So why make all the fuss until we know.
I understand all your concerns, I mean I'm a concerned parent too. But everyday we take our children to pools, beaches, parks, where pediphiles may be lerking. That doesn't mean you have to prevent your child from entering a pagent. If you don't like the rules then don't enter your child. They had a really great turn out last year and they do every year my daughter has been in them. I do it for the fun.
And this Cecil Bradshaw issue,I understand the concern. The Fair Board is open for anyone to join. If your concerns are that of importance to post on here, then why don't you just join the Fair Board and maybe then you can help make changes. I'm sure they would welcome all the help and advice that all of you have posted to this site. I checked into it and they meet the 2nd tues. of every month. I would join myself but I see nothing that they have done wrong.
I support the fair board and the pagent directors and their work hard. I have friends who's daughters are older that participate in the bigger pagents. And they opened them because we didn't have partcipation from our county residents. And we have to have more then just 3 girls in a pagent. And you don't know how much of their time they give for our children to have these pagents. If it wasn't for them we wouldn't have the Fair. So I want to say thank you for all your hard work.
Hope

No we dont need a swimsuit catagory in any of the age groups. To me it is discriminating and shows no real purpose, I mean really what is the point in this catagory anyway? There are plenty of girls who would like to enter the pagent but wouldnt because of the swimsuit thing. It narrows the field on who can or will enter. It should be about how well they will represent Jessamine County meaning how they dress, look, carry themselves and their morals and values. A swimsuit serves no purpose. As far as the kids are concerned put adaquate air conditoning in the dressing rooms and only allow one person in with the contestant.Same goes for all the other pagents. Everybody and their cousins dont need to be in there. What you should really be complaining about is how they let everybody from different counties enter the pagent. How is some one from a different county going to represent Jessamine County? I'm just saying!!!
There hope

The reason they, The board do that is , when they canot get enough home town girls to be in it. They let it be open pagaent and helps bring revenue in for the town. And the girls still repersite Jessamine Co. I personal dont care were there from.Untill the board and figure out were the revenue will come from complain.
