Has anyone been contacted with what team your child will be playing on for fall ball league? I have called the board several times, no answer and voice-mail box is always full.

I was told when we signed up that we would be contacted this week, but no one has so far. Maybe they are too busy trying to cover up the summer ticket scalping scandal . . .

I think that fall ball is not worth the money you pay. It will be spring before it starts.

What's the ticket scalping thing?? I think JCYB has gotten much better over the past couple years and have heard they even have a CPA audit them once a year. I bet it is harder than we think to run a league for 500 kids like they do.

ticket scalping = selling tickets for more than face value. They did this when they sold tickets to the Legands game for $2 more than the price printed on the ticket. It's illegal in KY. They tried to cover it up by saying it was a fundraiser and the tickets were misprinted. Wonder whose pocket that $800 + went into?

The league is horrible right along with Jamie Thurman who thinks she can run a league. Player/agent her title what the hell is that. She sticks her nose in your business, and loads one team up. Glad we are done with this sorry league. It was so much better years ago.$85 to play $ 50 fundraiser cards, buy out concession $15, fundraising team baskets. Thats all they want is your money. You can go to lexington for $85 flat get matching bags and helmets no fundaising at all, fields in tip top shape. Can't get that around here. So where does the money go? I guess we can all get an idea.

I know several families who now play in Lexington, they all say it is better. I don't know Jamie Thurman, but whoever is in charge has made a mess of it. Very unfair to the kids. I also heard that a couple of years ago that several thousand dollars in both money and food were taken from the concession stand fund, and they know who did it but refused to prosecute. I was told that is why we now "have to" do the fundraiser cards. I don't know if it is true, but the person who told me is someone who I am confident would not say it unless it was true.

I am not on the board, but was involved with this league for a few years. Take my word for it, the league is much better now than when I first had a child enter it. It costs an average of $160-170 per child to put on the league. A little less for T ball, a little more for the older players. This includes uniform, equipment, umpire and maintenance costs, to mention a few. When I first became involved, I too wondered where the money was going. When I asked they were only too happy to provide answers along with a rake and water hose. When you look around, I guarantee you will see the same people manning the concessions, scoring the games, maintaining the fields, coaching the teams and running the park day to day. If you are indeed questioning the operation of the league, take some pride and ownership in the outfit, become involved and make it a better place for your child(ren). This will not only provide the answers you seek, but will open your eyes while providing a better environment for the athletes. I would still like to know in what league you can play in Lexington for $85. It will cost me $1100 for winter ball, $800 for spring ball (and I must fund raise) and $1800 for summer ball. This is just to play and of course doesn't include any equipment or travel costs. I would gladly trade some of the cost for a rake and a hose.

Well first of all I have had children play there for over 5 years and it is far better now than before. Further more Jamie Thurman is a fair woman. She doesn't stack teams. Ever heard of "drafting" every coach is there and has the same chance to draft the same kids. Whatever happened to letting the kids play and be happy? If some of the parents would shut up and let the kids be kids there wouldn't be the negative vibes around. And for the ones bitching.....go up to the feild and sit back and watch the same ones work day in and day out while some parents want to point fingers but not get off their a#@.

My child plays in one of the Lexington leagues you keep mentioning...

Please send me the information on the league that is so cheap. 85 bucks and I get a helmet and a bat bag?? Good grief, your out of your mind. The leagues here in Lexington would tell you to Suck it up and help out, or just shut up and let your kid play baseball or don't play. Plain and simple.

By the way, every league in the Central Kentucky area "scalps" these legends tickets. It's a way to raise money to keep costs down! Here's a link to the league we play in, it's in Lexington and we sold the same tickets for the same price that JCYB did! They are sold for face value and the legends give the league the tickets at a reduced rate.

See for your self. Oh and check out how much our league costs, I wish it was as cheap as JCYB. You guys have no clue!

I think the poster "curious" said that they get audited every year...ever think of asking for the financial data instead of just whining on a message board?? You'd never make it through one season in Lexington!
