This makes me so mad! How are people getting away with selling their food stamps to buy anything and everything, but food? Drugs, cigarettes, and so on. How does it make their children feel when they go hungry because mommy and or daddy feed themselves/addictions instead of putting food in their mouths?

Ah, they don't care, they abuse a sytstem that was set up to help those that are truly in need and all because they too damn lazy to get off their arse and work. They wouldn't know a good days work if it hit em., Obviously they think everyone is niave to their scams and lies, but when they check out at the grocery, buying things they shouldn't, driving a new car,and in brand name clothing, people know what they are....TRASH, lying cheating, scamming trash, that are hurting those that do truly need em.

It pisses me off. It boils down to them wanting everything given to them, like somebody owes them something. They don't want to get out and earn a dollar to support themselves or their 500 kids. THey wanna lie, cheat and steal from others. I'd turn them in for fraud in a heartbeat if I ever got a name....

most of Nich. sells em i hear for their addictions. The ones that won't work and are not trying at all to find work, should not get them! the gov't supports their honory drug habits for continuing to diaper their butts and let them get all the freebies. It should be law that you have to work to get them because of a low income. If you just sit on your arse all day stoned, you don't go try and find work then you don't get them!

I have the anwser, drug test eveyone who applies. That would thin them out! If u can afford to buy drugs, u can afford food.

I really needed the help at one point. They allowed me $10.00 a month. I know of people getting at least $275.00 mo. Her kids are gone and grown. Still claims them. She likes to have "FUN". Spent alot of it at the bars mentioned in topix.

Like I said there are some people out there that legitimately need them. They are genuinely disabled, or 65 plus, and of course their are low income families that need them to put food on the table because their paycheck goes to pay their bills.

But it's those that misuse and fraud the system, that are completely ruining it for those who sincerely need them. When food stamps first started in Kentucky you had to pay so much in order to get so much..for example if you needed $40 bucks of foodstamps, then you had to pay about $20 dollars in cash. That didn't help those that honestly was in need of food, so they changed it. Now a days you have this new breed...the lazy arses that won't get out and work, they feel as if they are entitled to live off others and get everything free in life. Makes me sick and I have no respect for a MAN OR WOMAN that is more than capable of working but chooses not too and lives off goverment assistance so they don't have too.

Sure it's no big deal to those of us that don't recieve foodstamps if they cut out buying soda pop on the food stamp cards, but it's a damned shame that some little kid that's apart of a family, that is rightfully entitled to recieve the stamps and uses them as intended, may not be able to sit down on a hot summers days and drink it a cold pepsi because of the low life stealing scums that fraud the system in everyway possible. I bet they don't think of that when they go to the Human Resource building and do their they don't picture the little kid that may have to do without because of their lying arses... Heck maybe they do and just don't care...

I don't see how she could still claim them, if they are grown and gone. They have birth records and when your kid is 18 you don't get anymore for that kid.

All she has to do is go and have that kid claim their own foodstamps. I know a family that has done just that. Its ridiculous.

Just take your food stamps to SOLO on 127 South in Harrodsburg and they will give you cash for your stamps . I know someone who does this every month to support drug habits .

these people can still get there stamps if there kids are over 18 an at home still, an there gettin them if they go in an say there homeless they can get them for 6 months, most anyone can get them if you dont have a new car in your name, an all your income comming into the house is going out is going out to your nessaray(sp) bills then you can get them also,so if you know somone that is needin them make sure all there income is going out to bills other than a car payment an house that u own you cant have thing in your name that new ,, house, car etc,, an they dont check if you lie, so it might work if you try..i know cause i use to work

You know, when you have a Kroger card, they can track everything you buy. I know this because the warnings for recalled items are only printed on your receipt if you have bought those items and used your discount card, and also because they sometimes send out books of coupons that are personalized to you and only contain items you have bought.

I think they should do the same thing with food stamp cards, and stop letting those places accept them that don't have the scanners that show exactly what you're buying and whether or not it's food stamp eligible.

I lived in a homeless shelter for a while, where every resident got food stamps, and there was a store in town that had a register where they just typed in the price and nothing else. There was a manager there who knew one of the residents and he used to buy his cigarettes there on his food stamps and would take other residents' cards and buy cigarettes there for them too. So even people who DO need them misuse them.

And as for keeping track of what you buy, they should then revoke your food stamps if you're spending too much on, say, soda or junk food.

it shouldnt matter what they buy, maybe an age limit on pop, but at 14 an up no they should be able to buy what they want as long as you can eat it,,an they can go bk an check what u bought, now theres a system u call using ur personal #'s so they could track ur transaction down if they want, but with the stuff there not suppose to be buying i bet the store is ringing it up as something to eat an taking a loss on some type of food an just trading it out for cigerattes, an they will do it for others if they stopped sellin pop an stuff. so u dont win or lose cause they will just raise the price for other people to make up the difference..

I think the best thing was watching people i was rather close too at the time Go apply for foodstamps for the sole Purpose to trade it off for pills. The Best part about it was, Say they got 200$ put on it a time( Im not sure how often the money gets put on them, never had a card personally)They Would have 200 on them and Give it up for 60$ tops worth of drugs. Most of the time they were lucky for that! Oh how much some people put themselves through. Addicts Are Remarkable for Getting things DOne, If they need there fix, its going to happen Regardless of who gets hurts or what gets stolen. If people would just use 1/4 of the energy like that on getting a good job, No Not a Minimum wage, Something that pays at least 10$ Starting. things would be a lot better, that and all the unemployed people who Actually WANT to work would have a reason to get away from the constant shit talking that goes on. Gotta love the Vegas, No other place with people like that in the world.

Ok I was reading through this, and while I do agree on drug testing and I do agree food stamps are abused daily, by idiots who shouldnt have them, I do have to interject and say that I am a food stamp recipient. I have gotten them for about six months now when my husbands business went under and literally overnight we were broke from bills and other expenses. We lost everything we had and now we are living with my parents trying to figure it all out. While I have been looking for work, and I am a full time student, I have not been able to find a job that would help my family and not hurt my foodstamps. By this I mean that if I get a job that pays too much, and my husband is working part time, I will have those checks, but I will not qualify for child care assistance, food stamp, or medical coverage for my child. So I chose to stay home, focus on my education, use the help TEMPORARILY and one day pay into taxes anything I have used for help. It is THESE situations that people do not think about, sometimes both parents working will make it where the child only has little to choose from with food, and no medical coverage, another thing is that I take EXCELLENT care of my clothing, so while it may look brand new it is not, so those who judge like that make me sick. I do get up put on clothes and get ready to go out instead of just throwing my hair up and grabbing a jacket while in PJ's and slippers. I also drive a good vehicle, not because I paid full price, but because I found one wrecked and put a little money in it, so my "brand new car" is actually a rebuilt wreck. The point Im trying to make is don't judge a book by its cover, Im sorry I take pride in my appearance and my childs, but how much it may look like I have spent, is most likely half what your thinking, because I am thrifty! Thats all I wanted to say.
