I was out in my raggedy-assed old barn the other day and just stood there looking at one of my fat old coon dogs who was crapped-out and laying in the dirt next to my old panhead, and I couldnt help but laugh at the irony of it. Mean, Fat, Slow, Deaf, Lazy, Farts, Smells Rank and has lost most of his Hair and Teeth.......and that Cracker-assed Hillbilly Dog of mine ain't in much better shape neither. And there stood my old scoot, a little Rusty, Dirty, Farts like a bitch until you advance the spark a little, Sloppy Primary, Sloppy Drive chain, Broke Jockey Stick, Slippin' Clutch, Loose lower-end, and there she stands, Over a Puddle of Oil dripping out of the primary....And some wise assed poob-butts went ahead and named us "Old School"....."They don't teach this shit in school, It's All About Heart my brothers... <quoted text>Yes indeed. The Argonaut Club on Del Paso blvd.Owned by Carl Sandow.A helluva nice guy.Never went to the 400.Worked for Armando Magri,1969-1970{the old shop downtown}.Worked the parts counter with Ernie Magri,Armando's older brother. It was not fun working with Ernie.Ernie was a former El Dorado County Deputy Sheriff, then worked as a guard at Folsom Prison. He would tell anybody wearing club colors to leave their patches outside.Although a few times I saw a couple of MFFM patches come through the door to buy parts.Do you remember that Tattoo artist on Broadway? I have an old photo of his shop {now long gone}.He was an interesting person. His name was Robert Kane Smith. He wore very thick glasses.Did tattoos, photography, & made jewelry.
Broadway Bob, notorious for bad tattoos... but, he was cheap. LMAO! That's going back a ways in the time machine. Armando Magri's joint downtown. Now, there was a hole in the wall setup. I remember walking in there about 1971 to look at Sportsters before joining the Army so I could pay for one. I still have one of their old business cards.

Yes, Broadway Bob did some interesting work. And Magri's downtown shop was a hole in the wall. So was that wino bar next door called The Castle. The Castle was connected to the same building as Magri's.

Big Chuck. It was probably a different saloon with the same name. When I moved back to Sacramento in 1982 Magri's and The Castle had been replaced by an office building about 4 or 5 stories tall. But Jim&Denny's Diner is still across the street. Spent many a night at the Barrel Club. Long gone too.

Big Chuck and everyone else. Have you ever noticed, while watching TV, and the commercials come on{ about every 4 or 5 minutes }and there are always these convincing people that talk about a product? Make you believe they are real customers of a product? Then you see that same person doing a commercial for something else? Example ; " Hello, my name is Billy and I'm a full blown member of the Cal-Vada Misfits. Always worked on my own scoot, but got tired of getting my fingers and the backs of my hands tore up. Now I go to a bonafide Harley dealer". Two weeks later you see the same person running a flower shop and talking about Prozac.
