what a great letter, this is all good to hear and it's becoming clearer why Mr. Cox is so enthusiastic about the project as it truly does have a lot of potential on several levels. It's not like Lake County is chock-full of castles or buildings worth saving with public money, the very few that are should be.
yes, money is tight right now but the flip side is real estate prices are low so a dollar goes further today, same thing goes with renovation work-you want jobs, here they are!

The good news(if you call it good) is that the government has the money to spend on this place. The bad news is that NOBODY in the private sector saw this investment as a worthy endeavor.

Prove me wrong.
List ANY legitimate private party offers of purchase that were submitted on this property.
BTW,FYI Obama's approval rating has gone from 65% to 44's in two years.

Can you list the number of people who knew it was up for sale in this Nation. Very few I would think, and if properly advertised, listing the willingness of the county to work with a new developer, might just stir up some real interest.

You use a republican pollster, who's polls are designed to put the rightwing in the best light. They don't poll via cell phone and most younger folks who generally break in the majority for Dems no longer have land lines. They poll equal #s of Repubs and Dems even though the Dems have a significant advantage in registration, skewing the poll. Faux claims that ratsmusings is more accurate, when if fact it is NOT as accurate as legitimate polls: Saying so doesn't make it so. For much of the early part of his term Obama polled in the mid 50's as the vote in '08 reflected when he won by 8.5 million votes and got 53% of the vote, oaver 69 million in all, the most in American history. He now polls at about 47%, much better than reagan at a similar time in office despite a depression caused by republicans and deliberately prolonged by republicans in a shameless attempt to regain power.
Don't be ridiculous, the facts on the castle speak for themselves.

In regard to Obama; The mid terms are quickly approaching, lotsa luck.

the facts are that we got it cheap, it has a lot of potential, local tradesmen will get work out of this when they need it the most, it won't turn into a drug rehab center or flop house, and the building is apparently in pretty decent shape, BTW, i don't think this was on the market at this price-that was a special deal offered only to the government

I hope you are correct about local tradesmen getting work out of this deal, however, since the government will be paying the bill, this will be a union work site, or prevailing union wage job.
This could be a veeeerrrry expensive ordeal.

To the moron who apparently has a foreskin (post #11) every post here is sequential, not one has been deleted if you are bright enough to count from 1 to 13. Based upon your vile spewage, that may not be the case. Trust me, all posts on this topic are still here as of 1:00 PM (that's one hour past your lunch time at the zoo).
Yea you are and idiot Lowell Grant their was a whole different blog with a different point of view by the topix censors.
Whomever runs topix maybe you or one of the good old boys do not wnt to see free speech present.
Now go take your little C.S. opinions and stick them where the sun doesn't shine.

We all want to see freedom of speech. To suggest that Mr. Grant has something to do with topix censorship is wacky. Topix was taken over by the local Record Bee several months ago. Hence, no freedom of speech. Delete, delete, delete.

Lucerne Roofing got the job - local enough for you Hmmmm? Oh The Horror, they are getting a living wage out of it. And we're getting a labor guarantee in addition to the materials warranty.

LOL! Of all the ignorant and hateful posts Mandy allows to stay up on Topix, she takes MINE down and then some fool thinks I have control of Topix. Laughable idiots!!!

It's like the US Chamber of Commerce running ads attacking Dems as job killers with money they get from foreign companies and then their President, Donahue saying that outsourcing US jobs overseas is a good thing and unemployed workers here "should stop whining!" Think that's not true?

Well that's interesting lake bottom - our local other source of news has a reader posting about how great their workmanship is. All I know is they've been in business for the many decades I've been here. If they do shoddy work, how'd they manage that? Perchance now that the hire local aspect has been fulfilled you've been forced to find another reason to gripe?

well that was 25 yrs ago donna, not six yrs ago donna. donna lets see how you feel about someone tracking roofing tar through a new house and beating up the hundreds of dollars worth of custom flashing, not to mention the damage from backing a tar pot trailer into this house. you go ahead and continue to hire them. bunch of clowns
