he didn't plead to "accidental" homicide. He pleaded to voluntary manslaughter which is defined as an intentional homicide mitigated by heat of passion or imperfect self-defense.

Hopkins should be ashamed. But he isn't.

Rhoades has my vote.

OUTRAGEOUS!!!! How can that be? This murder was INTENTIONAL, Jack should be sentenced to DEATH. How horribly sad for Joe, and of course his beloved family & friends. WHY? WHY? WHY?

You are so wrong. Even your letter says 'without witnesses'- there in was the problem with taking it a jury...especially in Lake County.

Epps was convicted because what he did was blatant and the evidence was solid.

Justice IS blind...jurors are bleeding hearts and the law can only do so much.

Sorry Joe, no justice for your brutal killing. The courts have gone soft, your killer will be back on the streets able to do it again. Deepest condolences to Joe's family and friends.

Eddy Lepp was arrogant, Jack presented himself a victim of circumstances. Our Lake County "justice" system HATES arrogance, especially when it is directed to them. No objectivity there. They are more concerned the people of Lake County "know their place" in THEIR courtroom (the judges own them personally, don't you know), than whether or not they are murdered by a sociopath.
It doesn't help that the tribes enabled Jack and concealed Jack and his information. I have far less respect or sympathy for them since then, and not only don't go to the casinos, but spread every negative story about them there is, that I can verify.
People in Lake County: KEEP YOUR MONEY, pay your bills. You will spend more money trying to win, than what you get winning. The slots are calculated to win only periodically, and are made looser only during grand openings and a few events to get people to think they can come back and do the same thing. You can have a lot of "toys' for the money you waste in a smoke filled jangling, casino.

No on Hopkins we need change. Joe Hey Taxi should of had justice instead a plea bargin of manslaughter.
No on Hopkins we need change. Lynn Thorton's killer was never charged or prosecuted for his reckless speed in darkness or UNSAFE OPPERATION OF HIS SPEEDBOAT send Hopkins a message.
No on Hopkins we need change. Huges Case. Shannon Edmonds was never charge with the shooting in the BACKS and killing 2 men. Hopkins allowed this man to kill again (Clearlake man beaten to death).
Hopkins was asked if he would charge Perdock with perjury. He said no.

Vote No on Hopkins.

Anderson will prosecute perjury Vote Anderson.
Some backers of Hopkins have attempted to smear Anderson don't believe their lies.

Vote Anderson for DA

Welcome to Lake County, home of delusional district attorneys and a sheriff who would rather protect a drunk killer deputy than seek justice- to the point of totally failing to investigate an obvious DUI!

You expected justice? Not in this county. The mercury in the water has sure taken it's toll!

If Hopkins somehow manages to keep his job despite his laughably tenuous grasp of the law, then Lake County really is a confederacy of dunces. Idiots with power is a scary thing.

Eddy's garden wasn't anywhere near being legal. Give me a break. Eddy hid under the blanket of Prop 215 to hide his criminal activity. Get a copy of some of the court documents. It's in black and white.

Although I agree with you about the sentencing of Jack, the difficulties in one case don't excuse the crimes in others.

Eddy didn't go through Lake County Courts; his case was federal.

Support your local casino. Although I don't care for Sheriff Mitchel and don't support him, looking at the other runners in the race, looks like a lose lose,(I wouldn't take that job for love nor money)I feel sorry for the regular deputies trying to do a good job. I also support Arizona in their efforts to shore up the border, and will boycott SF, I also voted for Obama, and regret it. It's weird that you can get more time for growing than killing.

True History.
Don Anderson was on a high speed chase on his what to apprehend two killers that just gunned down and executed an officer and family man. Don Anderson was in the gun battle where he was shot and brought down the two killers. Don Anderson was the only patrol car there when others were dispatched to go to the scene the same distance away.
This shows true character, bravery, nobility and the great man Don Anderson is.
No one compares.
I lost a very close friend that night and I will always be grateful that he brought Rich's killers to justice. Don Anderson has my vote.
If memory serves, Cox stole Helbush's patrol car and Don passed that car in Middletown (on his way to the murder scene) and gave pursuit knowing it wasn't being driven by a Deputy. The other officers were responding to Manning Flat, where they were dispatched to. Don did an excellent job that night, but don't disparage the other Officers for going where they were told. Fortunately Don was in the right place at the right time!
