More cover-up. Should anyone be surprised. Lantz is leading the DOC down a terrible path. She is soft on inmates, makes special arrangements for "connected" individuals, and security is out the window. Assaults on staff are up, but you will not hear about that because they keep the details very well hidden. A serious housecleaning at the top is needed. That includes the numerous highly paid Directors that take up space at Central Office.

Mr Lender don't feel bad. Over the past year I have made two FOI requests from CT DOC and in both requests it took them over 40 days to respond. An inmate (Natasha Kinion) killed my grandson (Royel Taft) in Waterbury CT while driving under the influence of drugs and when I REQUESTED INFORMATION FROM TERESA LANTZ THEY STALLED FOR 40 DAYS AND 42 DAYS RESPECTIVELY.

And what is really interesting is that I know for sure it doesn't take that long to answer the requests. I worked for CT DOC for over 20 years and routinely responded to FOI requests made to former Comissioner John Armstrong. I retired in 2001 and am really disappointed with the way the agency is dealing with victims of crimes recently. They have this cavalier attitude that is unprecedented. The problem is this: Too many of their top administrators have been there much too long and need to retire, they know who they are. Move on guys and let new, fresh and brilliant minds take the helm and shed some of the old stale attiudes that are pervasive in OUR agency today. Ray

Can't they do a freedom of information act? The public has the right to view emails sent by Dopett and Lantz. This article is basically dealing with the dream team, Garnett, Lants & Mooooooooooooooooooody.

What a joke! Can't wait until the courant gets a hold of those emails Lance wrote telling her staff to hook up this lady with more visits. Maybe they should ask the governor's office since they can actually provide this information the same week it is asked for! How can a 100k public information officer not provide information to the public when asked.

What can be done about government entities that become independent, insular power bases within the government? Certainly the DOT, the DCF and Corrections are examples of agencies that become so powerful the rules of civil conduct don't apply to them. Many local towns are held hostage by the local schools in much the same manner. It's hubris and arrogance once again.
And Garnett! Give us a break! What does he do when he's not relating to the public? That doesn't sound like a full time job to me.

I am looking forward to the update on this article. Maybe they didn't release the info because the copy machine was broke or jammed.

Wonder when the follow up story is coming out.
It doesn't take that long to pull surveillance video from the cameras at the prison.
Also, how about a visitor sign in log?
How about getting a copy of her visiting screen?

Is Garnett busy putting cover-up on those red splotches on his head, instead of doing his job!?!?

This boors me

Just another mean spirited jON lENDER article knowing he can bait and satisfy the arm chair philosophers in CT during these difficult economic times with any negative story about anything having to do with a state employee or a state agency and better yet, both at the same time. Where is the news in this or in twice printing the guy's salary? So joN got some salary information in 30 minutes from someone else? By FOIA, nobody needed to respond instantaneously to Jon and jOn, if anybody, should know that given how many FOIA requests he makes that cost taxpayers money to research and compile information for his articles.
