I agree, she should have been charged w/attempted kidnapping. What if she succeeded to take the child? Good quick thinking of the day care.

How can you hire someone..especially a Nanny without doing a background check who didn't even come from an agency?

You are putting your childrens lives in the hands of strangers. Unbelievable.

I guess it would be too much to ask the parents to take care of their own kids.

With all the poverty, wars, kidnapping, nuclear threats, and general hatred in the world today, not being able to hire good help to parent their kids (my goodness, we have to do background checks!) may just be the last straw for many townies to bear.

Speaking as a working parent, go jump in a lake. Some of us actually HAVE to work, or is it hard to think of things in the haze of bon-bons?

Most people with nannies in Greenwich are not two income families. The women are off doing pilates, socializing at the club, shopping on the Avenue or just being fabulous!

Duh, you are generalizing and are wrong. The people that I know that have nannies are working parents.

Duh, guess we know different people. The people I know are hard working parents, both in the home and out of it. The women don't send their time shopping on the Ave, socializing all day, but I must say they are fabulous.

I guess we do.In my work I see a lot of back country and mid-country homes with nannies where the Moms aren't working.I must say they really aren't fabulous,in fact they're pretty self absorbed.

I grew up in town and the ones I know are the exact opposite. I don't think that I would like your job, if that is the kind of people that you meet. Sorry.

kidnapping and then probly try to extort money from the parents for their children should be harsher sentencing

Sorry Townie but two-income families don't hire Brazilian nannies - they put their kids in day care or have family take care of them. Exotic nannies are hired by ubber-rich, back-country Greenwich families NOT by blue-collar Townies.
