EL wants Amtrak meeting as bridge work nears
As Amtrak starts its three-year project to replace the Niantic River Bridge next week, town officials want to better understand what the impact will be on boaters and those who use the beach and boardwalk.

Work has started on the new bridge, and a gate has been erected across the overlook, block access to the last 3/4 of a mile or so.

Also, Amtrak has been working to replace the fixed bridge between Black Point and Giants Neck since December. The pile driver they are using makes quite a racket.
