How horrible. God bless these young people and their families. Many prayers and thoughts out to you all at this tragic time. Oh Lord I pray that God touches your hearts and souls to help lift your heavy hearts. And may the injured young man pull through and recover.

This is so depressing....kids out having a good time and then just wiped out. "guns don't kill people, people kill people"......but for Pete's sake....an ASSUALT RIFLE!!?? Unless we have better gun contol laws, these types of things are going to increase. A person with a small handgun is one thing. A crazy person with an ASSUALT RIFFLE is another thing. Of course we don't want to give up the right to protect ourselves, but where is this all going to end?

These poor kids didn't stand a chance. Even if they carried something for thier own protection (unlikely), how could they stand up to this?

My heart goes out to the victims families.

Over and over and over...how many more times? "The right to bear arms"...What percentage of these people also vote "pro-life"? Hmmm. Deepest sympathies to all those involved in this senseless and preventable act.

Gun control has nothing to do with this. The killer probably didn't go into a sporting goods store to purchase his assault rifle.

Michigan needs the death penalty.

My heart aches for the families of these kids, and my thoughts/prayers go out to them.

I am glad he was caught. It is obviousl he needs to be helped and away from society.

My gut tells me it is going to be someone who is a recluse and has some horrid experience(s) in his life that pushed him over the edge of reality and sanity. Not that this is an excuse...just what I expect.

May the victims and their families be in peace.

Here we go again, now the anti-gunners can jump on the bandwagon to ban "assault rifles" and any other guns that LOOK dangerous. We already have enough gun control laws. Would people be willing to ban cars in order to stop speeders? I mean after all, it would save lives right? Don't make laws based on fear, hype and lies perpetuated by anti's with a hidden agenda. Even the previous 2 posters were not willing to come out and directly say they were against gun ownership. They seem to forget that criminals will NEVER follow the law, it doesn't matter how many you put on the books. More laws would only restrict the law abiding.

A crazy person stabbing someone to the point of decapitation isn't so pleasant either. Are we going to outlaw knives too?

The keyword is "crazy".

Countries that have put a ban on fire arms still have "crazy" people who kill.

My question about all this would be:

Does this have any connection to those 2 little girls who were gunned down in Weleetka Ok. Is this a serial killer?

this is a horrible act, but has absolutely nothing to do with gun control, the psycho killer is the one that pulled the trigger the gun can't pull its own trigger.

this is horrifly tragic and speaks volumes of the dark depths of our broken humanity. to take an event like this and begin speaking of more gun control is pointless, meaningless, unfactual, and doesn't address the true problem. no gun law will EVER remove the sin like nature that we are all enslaved to.

i pray for the victims families. may God grant them comfort during this painful time. and i pray for our humanity. may we be set free by the blood of Jesus Christ.

Exactly. It's not the law-abiding people that we need to worry about having guns and killing people. If they're willing to break the law to kill someone, I'm sure they're just as willing to break it to find a gun. Bans and stronger laws aren't going to make a difference, like someone else said - it's the death penalty that has the chance to make a difference!

Interesting! I wouldn't be too quick to rule out a connection.

WELEETKA — One month after two girls were shot to death on a rural Okfuskee County road, investigators do not appear to be much closer to solving the crime than they were the day it happened.

No arrests have been made. No suspects have been identified. No motive has been determined. And a sketch of a mystery man who is listed as a "person of interest" has produced hundreds of leads but no notable results.

Stan Florence, an Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation inspector, said authorities are still working hard to find the person or persons who killed 13-year-old Taylor Paschal-Placker and 11-year-old Skyla Whitaker on June 8.

"Unfortunately, there's nothing to report, but to date, we have 451 leads received, and we have given a number of polygraphs, including a polygraph (Monday). So this case is still very active and ongoing," Florence said.

Investigators believe there may be at least two shooters involved in the killings because each of the girls were shot with two different kinds of bullets.

Two weeks ago, OSBI officials decided to request a nationwide distribution of the information and sketch related to the girls' slaying in hopes of gathering information....

....For the last three weeks, officers have been looking for a "person of interest" who was reported as a suspicious person in the Weleetka area when the two girls were shot. Authorities have never called the man a suspect, but said he may have seen something and may even be a possible witness.

He is described as an American Indian male, about 6 feet tall, with black hair and a ponytail. He was reportedly seen standing near a white Ford or Chevrolet single cab pickup with an Oklahoma tag.

I generally disagree with gun control, but when it comes to someone toting around an assault rifle, I just don't understand it. People don't need weapons like that; it's just plain pointless.

You're in a very generous and kind frame of mind today, and you'll go out of your way to help others if you think they need it. You might donate some money to a good cause or decide that charity begins at home. If you're buying gifts for some of your loved ones it will be difficult to know when to stop, because you could easily get carried away.
