So the average deductible is $1,135. That's pretty good. Mines $2,500. And the world didn't end when I had surgery a few years back. And it's BC-BS.<quoted text>
I bet they are paying $800.00 less per year:
On Health Exchanges, Premiums May Be Low, but Other Costs Can Be High
By ROBERT PEAR
Published: December 9, 2013
WASHINGTON For months, the Obama administration has heralded the low premiums of medical insurance policies on sale in the insurance exchanges created by the new health law. But as consumers dig into the details, they are finding that the deductibles and other out-of-pocket costs are often much higher than what is typical in employer-sponsored health plans.
Until now, it was almost impossible for people using the federal health care website to see the deductible amounts, which consumers pay before coverage kicks in. But federal officials finally relented last week and added a window shopping feature that displays data on deductibles.
For policies offered in the federal exchange, as in many states, the annual deductible often tops $5,000 for an individual and $10,000 for a couple.
Insurers devised the new policies on the assumption that consumers would pick a plan based mainly on price, as reflected in the premium. But insurance plans with lower premiums generally have higher deductibles.
In El Paso, Tex., for example, for a husband and wife both age 35, one of the cheapest plans on the federal exchange, offered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield, has a premium less than $300 a month, but the annual deductible is more than $12,000. For a 45-year-old couple seeking insurance on the federal exchange in Saginaw, Mich., a policy with a premium of $515 a month has a deductible of $10,000.
By contrast, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, the average deductible in employer-sponsored health plans is $1,135.
Deductibles for many plans in the insurance exchanges are pretty high, said Stan Dorn, a health policy expert at the Urban Institute. These plans are more generous than whats prevalent in the current individual insurance market, but significantly less generous than most employer-sponsored insurance.

Your entire post is nothing but a load of shit.
Policies were reworked...hell, the computer barely runs. Everything is just fine. Keep believing that. LMAO

Except that one is science, and the other is thinly veiled religion. Science is based on objective evidence and experimentation. Religion is based on faith.
Except that impressionable minds might be persuaded that religious beliefs are the same as scientific beliefs. Would you also advocate that science be taught in churches?
The vast majority of scientists reject creationism, and support evolution.
"Evolution pervades all biological phenomena. To ignore that it occurred or to classify it as a form of dogma is to deprive the student of the most fundamental organizational concept in the biological sciences. No other biological concept has been more extensively tested and more thoroughly corroborated than the evolutionary history of organisms.(National Academy of Sciences 1984)."

That's the average deductible for employer provided healthcare--not Commie Care.

Yah, but then you're the treasonous douche who gleefully hopes his country fails. A real patriot. Wish that made me "LMAO" but then I'm not a 15 year old girl sending a text message. You keep believing that the vast majority of hard working, tax paying Americans who voted for Obama did it for a free phone and not because we all think you guys are a greedy, conniving, doomsday Bible bunker fringe group. How DARE you try to inflict this nation with a man who believes in magic underwear, you stammering toothless hooptie.
#22791 Dec 11, 2013
We all remember your outrage when Bush extended Medicare without it being paid for. Oh, that's right. You were too busy waving your flag and whistling Dixie while Bush was needlessly sending our troops off to die for imaginary WMDs. Another "patriot" in action. Save it, Princess. The American voters made it VERY clear that we aren't buying your greasy sales pitch. Stick to preaching it to the bleary eyed flock. Now dance for it is all your ignorance is good for. Dance for the amusement of the forum, you red faced scarecrow clown.

Ever hear of the phrase "Lead by example?"
Why don't you get your nose out of governments azz? You leftists sit there with "government should do this and government should do that." Why don't you do it for yourself? I never seen any of you global warming people freezing at a bus stop on a day like today to reduce your carbon footprint. Like Al Gore, driving around in SUV's all the while preaching to others what they should do, or Nazi Piglosi that purchased her own private plane when she was speaker and flew across the country back and forth. Guess she was too important to fly commercial. When she wasn't using that taxpayer funded plane, her family was. Hypocrites.
Need more money? Why look to take money from a millionaire or billionaire? You need more money, then get a job. Don't worry about how much money other people have, worry about how much money you have or can make. If you don't like what a CEO makes, then become a CEO yourself and charge what you like.

Are you psychic? How else would you know the opinions of strangers you see standing at a bus stop?

they would learn the new testament defines Christians from jews.

You're right but I still have faith that you can come up with a new one.
I have an idea for hydro power that I am very confident about but I lack the funds to pursue.
I am more than willing to split my idea with a money person but I am guarded with my idea for fear of losing it completely to a shark.
Oh well, my problem that affects many. I honestly don't care to get super rich, just very comfortable is cool with me. IF I had millions of dollars, I would set up millions of dollars of trust type non-profit funds for certain needy/charitable entities. After all, I can't take it with me.

WHOA WHOA !! Is Gates a 'retardican? How about Soros? And others. YOU are a closed minded, blind & deaf Idiot. THEY are among the richest in the WORLD & among the top 1/100th of a percent!!

I read your post with interest trying to glean just a small amount of knowledge or wisdom, but no dice.
Did you really mean to call me a stammering, toothless 225 that believes in a man wearing magic underwear?
Wow, that was mature. Sure you're not a 15 year old girl? No, 15 year olds are smarter and more mature than this. LMAO
#22798 Dec 12, 2013
You forgot I also called you a treasonous douche but that one seemed to fit like a glove with you since you didn't comment on it. Besides, if I was a 15 year old girl, all the religious rightwingers would be trying to get me down in their doomsday Bible bunkers, although it would make me a little too old at 15, statistically speaking that is. Mormons like Mitt Romney believe in magic underwear...so who did you vote for?
#22799 Dec 12, 2013
Let's see how many bullsh1t propaganda scandals lead directly back to George Soros or Bill Gates. Nope...just your precious Koch Brother oil billionaires.

So, you're supposed highly edumicated, doctorate degree wife, who earns over six figures a year, earns that at the billing department at OSU. Liars always catch themselves, they can't remember all of them.

We can't all be eloquent word smiths like your quote here...
"Really? Better to be p*ssed on than p*ssed off. But, how about that load of Obamacare shit sitting on your waaaaaaa-boy pointed head?"
So much wisdom. So much to be learned from your poetic posts. OMG WTF LMAO
#22802 Dec 12, 2013
as with 100% of your posts, above is no exception to the rule.
1st...you lie about pay.
2nd you lie about position
and last...you are a little chump worthless punk living in squaller doing your best to do nothing but make excuses for your own failure.
Little worms like you need to stay buried so you don't continue to make fools of yourself with every post you type.
Not a factual word is your model operative.

Obamacare has many problems, and so does health insurance.
Neither one being FREE another problem for some.
Would it not have made much better sense to have a Government agency like Medicare fund those unable to pay, and leave the other 85% of the population be?
pre-existing conditions is a toughie. I go liberal, and say government pay difference in policy premium over what same age person would on national average.
For many years of my life I had to purchase insurance as an individual. The family had 10K deductible, and 5 max on any individual. That was what I could afford, and it was $500 a month. I had kids, and I had to do without so the kids had insurance.
Obamacare forces by law the above situation. It also forces businesses to accept immediate losses by forcing bad investments.
My question to you........if you can't afford $500 a month for catastrophic health insurance, then how the heck is a $5000 deductible going to help you at the doctor? You owe 100% up to the 5K, or 10k in total family, whichever occurs 1st.
my opinion we only muddied turbulent water, and made problem worse.
PS: while insured with above policy...kids cost 10K to birth...5K mom...5k kid. I had loans just like a car, on 2 births. Again when they needed braces. I felt like insurance was a waste, because it never paid out unless it was major.
The government needed to allow across state marketing of insurance, and let the competitive marketing solicit customers. Government needed to allow groups be formed, and their group policies insurance bid upon. Self employment groups could leverage insurance carriers. This helps a great deal of people.
As I see it, the new healthcare program was in purpose to grab power by elected officials over the people, and not with intent of making healthcare more affordable or better to anyone.
