Rhoades and the college Democrats are being duped. Have they not paid attention to what's in store for all Americans if the 2,000+ page Pelosi monstrosity, already called "the worst legislation ever", is enacted? Do the college Democrats believe they will get FREE healthcare after reaching age 25? Did deeper Paradise, are their SEIU and ACORN folks on campus to help Rhoades persuade the unsuspecting that it's a good thing to give the government total control of one-sixth of the nation's economy?

Get and pay for health care before you go to a college then. If you are too stupid to understand the priorities in life then you aren't smart enough to benefit much from a college education.

THEY'RE ONLY DOING THIS because THEY'VE BEEN INDOCTRINATED TO THE LIBERAL EDUCATION SYSTEM THAT IS FULL OF SO-CALLED "PROFESSORS" WHO ARE JUST BRAINWASHING OUR KIDS TO BE SOCIALIST COMMUNIST MARXIST EVIL LIBRULS.

See how ridiculous that sounds? That's what you Republicans sound like. Republicans are laughable at best anymore.

I have no faith in the government that is giving Wall Street corporations H1N1 vaccines before health care providers. They can not be trusted to run healthcare!

Actually, one reason people go to college is so they can get a good job. For many people in college (including myself when I was in college) a good job translates to GOOD HEALTHCARE.

The way things are in this country, you need money to get healthcare. You need a LOT of money to get GOOD healthcare. It only makes sense that college students (people are who are trying to better themselves, something you republicans always tout in reference to people "pulling themselves up and not taking handouts") would have an interest in good healthcare for the masses. Most college students, undergrads anyway, are still covered under their parent's health insurance plan. For many, many, many recent graduates (including myself when I graduated), if you can't find a job immediately after graduation, that means NO HEALTHCARE FOR YOU.

Tell me, Grumpy, why that SHOULDN'T be changed? Why should people who have actually TRIED to do the whole "bootstraps" thing have to suffer?

Keith Paradise reports on the "college Democrats" effort to support Pelosi. Why no mention of the Republicans on campus? Are we to believe there are none and that no students are opposed to what the Congress is doing to wreck the economy with a $1.2 TRILLION healthcare fiasco? Once again the P.O. serves as a propaganda flak for the Liberals.

Personally, when I graduated college, I was dropped from my parent's plan. I went a year without healthcare coverage until I found a job that would pay for it. Luckily I didn't get sick in that year. AS SOON as I got healthcare, I got sick. I sure was glad for that. If I had gotten sick during that year, do you know what my debt would be?

I'll put in simple terms for you Grumpy: a shytload.

Frankly, I'm very surprised by your post. What a simple-minded thing to say. Really? "Find and pay for healthcare before you go to college?" What recent high school graduates do you know have the wherewithal to go out and find their own healthcare? How is a recent high school graduate, gearing up for full-time college classes, supposed to pay for a healthcare plan out of pocket (this is if they're not covered under their parents)?

You republicans are so contradictory. You talk trash on the higher education system, yet you expect people to do well for themselves. What is it? Either college is good, or it's bad. Then again, you never hear a Republican talking badly about a place like Liberty, or Regents, or Bob Jones University, because those all pander to the right-wing agenda.

So for you: right-wing agenda= good. Liberal arts education (not the same as being "liberal")= BAAD

What a bunch of frickin dummies! Why pay only 15% of our incomes on health insurance premiums when we pay 20%.

Don't they teach anything in college? When our healthcare costs are rising at 6-9% a year and middle class incomes are stagnate, don't these kids know that it means nothing! That it is good for our economy that healthcare will suck more & more of our incomes, more & more of our GNP, more & more of government expenditures?

I guess threse kids aren't business majors. For if they were they would know that small businesses are the key to our economy & it is good for them to have premiums rise 343% in 6 years. I mean why pay employees more, why invest in growth, why be more competitive when you can just give that money to the insurance companies.

I just hope these kids remember that signatures are good but votes are better. Urge each & every student to throw out the insurance company minions & elect people that understand the uregency & recognize that the status quo will kill this country and their futures.

...what did you do after the Navy (where you got SOCIALIZED medicine)? What do you do now that provides you with healthcare? If you're retired, what did you do before that?

Basically, I'm asking if you've ever had to go without health coverage.

Hasn't anyone noticed most support for government health care is from the young?

Has any one of those kids lived one day in the real world, paid taxes, or tried supporting their family after paying all those taxes?

That's why it seems so wonderful to them. Big business is evil, so they should "spread the wealth" and pay for health care. Until the day arrives when they realize they are the ones actually paying to suppliment those taxes with higher prices on services and commodities. "Gasp! I though the businesses would just cut their profits to pay for it!"

But the economy is in the tank with people not spending!! And the higher prices make them cut back more. So where does the money come from to keep the entitlement afloat? Middle income taxes.

By this time, those students have found jobs, with benefits, and they are working hard to keep them. They actually get to see how many people take advantage of the system and are not "victims". 25% percent of their pay is gone before the checks are cut. Suddenly, it's not such a great deal. But by then it's too late.

C'mon big stuff, I shared some personals. I'll share more: I get healthcare through my wife's employer (a school district). When I'm done with school, I'll also get healthcare from a district.

Yet...I still believe in the government option. Because I've been there. I know what it's like to not have care and not be able to afford it. It sucks, and there is absolutely no reason why people in this country who can't afford it should be forced to be sick or forced into debt to get well.

Pot calling the kettle black, isn't it? IF you work, you don't make enough to support yourself - otherwise you wouldn't still be living in mommy's basement and mooching off of her social security check.

These "students" are supporting something that they know little or nothing about. Nobody, let alone a "student", has any idea of what coverage this H.C. insurance plan might offer or what the monthly premiums will cost. All they know is that they may get something for nothing.

Young people, such as these "students", are being targeted by the H.C. plan advocates due the fact that the older and more experience citizens of this Country are far less likely to support something that they know little about (such as this vague "health care insurance" plan).

Besides, many of these "students" will be, by the time they graduate, so far in debt that they'll have little or no chance of being able to pay for their health care and or H.C. insurance plan regardless of who or what runs it.

Anyone care to guess who will be stuck with paying for their H.C. insurance?
