FBI: Mobster 'more powerful than a John Gotti'

Semion Mogilevich may be the most powerful man you've never heard of. The FBI says Mogilevich, a Russian mobster, has been involved in arms trafficking, prostitution, extortion and murder for hire. "He has access to so much, including funding, including other criminal organizations, that he can, with a telephone call and order, affect the global economy," said FBI Supervisory Special Agent Peter Kowenhoven.

I believe his assasination was organized by another boss, Tariel Oniani, an ethnic Georgian Thief in Law, whose clan has been at war with that of Aslan Usoyan, known as 'Grampa Hasan', another Thief in Law, also from Georgia, but ethnic Kurd, and head of, according to Russian media, largest criminal syndicate in our country. Usoyan organized the grand funeral ceremony for Yaponchik, who was a very close friend and ally of his, and the final prayer was read, personally, by Vissarion, Patriarch of the Abkhaz Orthodox Church (Yaponchik was from Abkhazia). Hundreds of people, mostly fellow mobsters, attended the funeral.
