Sorry, that was not correct info about him being from New Jersey....I guess. I also read that there was a body found at his home. And CNN is saying that he and his brother were both 'trouble'.

March 21, 2005: Red Lake Indian Reservation, Minnesota: 16-year-old Native American Jeff Weise was under the influence of the antidepressant Prozac when he shot and killed nine people and wounding five before committing suicide.

April 10, 2001: Wahluke, Washington: 16-year-old Cory Baadsgaard took a rifle to his high school, and held 23 classmates and a teacher hostage while on a high dose of the antidepressant Effexor.

March 22, 2001: El Cajon, California: 18-year-old Jason Hoffman was on two antidepressants, Effexor and Celexa, when he opened fire at his California high school wounding five.

March 7, 2000: Williamsport, Pennsylvania: 14-year-old Elizabeth Bush was on the antidepressant Prozac when she blasted away at fellow students in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, wounding one.

May 20, 1999: Conyers, Georgia: 15-year-old T.J. Solomon was being treated with a mix of antidepressants when he opened fire on and wounded 6 of his classmates.

April 20, 1999: Columbine, Colorado: 18-year-old Eric Harris was on the antidepressant Luvox when he and his partner Dylan Klebold killed 12 classmates and a teacher and wounded 23 others before taking their own lives in the bloodiest school massacre to date. The coroner confirmed that the antidepressant was in his system through toxicology reports while Dylan Klebold’s autopsy was never made public.

April 16, 1999: Notus, Idaho: 15-year-old Shawn Cooper fired two shotgun rounds in his school narrowly missing students; he was taking a mix of antidepressants.

May 21, 1998: Springfield, Oregon: 15-year-old Kip Kinkel murdered his own parents and then proceeded to school where he opened fire on students in the cafeteria, killing two and wounding 22. Kinkel had been on Prozac.”

Here is the link to the report,“Psychiatric Drugs And Anger Management Curricula – A Perspective on School Violence,” by the Citizens Commission on Human Rights.(I should point out something I didn’t realize at the time I posted, which is that the CCHR is connected to Scientology. I think the statistics are fairly reliable though. I will add another link to back this material from another source.

The report notes the following interesting statistics about the rise of school shooting.
1991-1996: FDA approval of selected SSI drugs (a class of antidepressants including Prozac and Zoloft) for adult use only.

1990-2005: 38% increase in pediatric use of stimulants that FDA claims cause psychosis, mania, aggression and (on withdrawal) suicidal ideation

1987-2002: 50o% under-18 use of anti-depressants

1974-2000 (1.4 school shootings a year, on average)

1988-2006 (2.5 school shootings a year, on average).

Sadly, many incidents of violence and/or suicide have been linked to adolescents taking prescription antidepressants.

•Eric Harris, the triggerman in the Columbine school shootings, killed his fellow students and took his own life while taking Luvox.
•Thirteen year-old Chris Fetters killed his favorite aunt while taking Prozac.
•Twelve year-old Christopher Pittman murdered both his grandparents while taking Zoloft.
•Thirteen year-old Mathew Miller hung himself in his bedroom closet after taking Zoloft for 6 days.
•Fifteen year-old Jarred Viktor stabbed his grandmother 61 times after 5 days on Paxil.
•This are just a few examples of antidepressant violence. The list goes on and on...
Fifteen year old Kip Kinkel (Prozac and RITALIN) shot his parents while they slept then went to school and opened fire killing 2 classmates and injuring 22 shortly after beginning Prozac treatment.

really? you cant blame antidepresants for these shootings. i know plenty of people who take them and are more sane than anyone. i think maybe society should look at theirselves . how these kids get treated. If you were ripped apart every second from every day, im sure you would go crazy too.

SSRI antidepressants (Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Luvox, Celexa and Lexapro) were originally advertised as miracle drugs with few side effects. This has been proven to be untrue. On March 22, 2004 the FDA warned that SSRIs may cause anxiety, agitation, panic attacks, insomnia, irritability, hostility, impulsiveness, akathisia (extreme restlessness), hypomania and mania.

On January 1, 2005 the British Medical Journal quoted the original FDA reviewer of Prozac as stating, "I do agree now that those stimulatory side effects, especially in regard to suicidal ideation and homicidal ideation are worse than I thought at the time that I reviewed the drug." - http://www.thesaveproject.com/

66 School Shootings/Incidents Involving SSRIs

Most of the stories on this site describe events that occurred after the year 2000. The increase in online news material and the efficiency of search engines has greatly increased the ability to track stories. Even these 4,800+ documented stories only represent the tip of an iceberg since most stories do not make it into the media. There are 115 cases of bizarre behavior, 66 school shootings/incidents, 68 road rage tragedies, 19 air rage incidents, 101 arson cases, 70 postpartum depression cases, over 1,000 murders (homicides) or murder attempts, over 300 murder-suicides (30% committed by women) and other acts of violence including workplace violence on this site. There are also over 100 Journal Articles and FDA reports listed in the Index. They are at the top of the Index immediately below the 66 school shootings/incidents and the 29 "won" criminal cases.

The 31 "suspect" drugs accounted for 1527 of the 1937 case reports of violence toward others in the FDA database for that 69-month period. The drugs in that list of 31 included varenicline (an aid to smoking cessation), 11 antidepressants, 6 hypnotic/sedatives, and 3 drugs for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Antidepressants were responsible for 572 case reports of violence toward others; the three ADHD drugs for 108; and the hypnotic/sedatives for 97.

Of the 1937 total case reports of violence toward others, there were 387 cases of homicide, 404 physical assaults, 27 cases of physical abuse, 896 reports of homicidal ideation, and 223 cases of "violence related symptoms."

The adverse events reported to the FDA are known to represent but a tiny fraction of all such adverse events. This study simply identified 31 drugs responsible for most of the FDA case reports of violence toward others, with antidepressants near the top of that list.
