Let's see:

Leaving VFW bar on a Friday night one day after the new years holiday, slips and falls on the Ice and it is the VFW post that is to blame.

I have to think her husband is rolling over in his grave on this one.

this like any risky combination equalz danger. we as a society need to pay the price for the risks we take and quit blaming others for our actions.

Had he been drinking? Was he intoxicated, and did that lead to him falling? In that case, it was his own fault he fell, not the VFW. For his wife, all I can say is "money.money, money."

If he was leaving the VFW (BAR) at 11:00 pm there was a good chance he a few cocktails in him. Likr ti know what his blood alcohol level was? No disrespect to veterans but the VFW'S had a place a long time ago. Now there a place to go and drink.(been to a bunch of them)

The guy survives a brutal jungle war halfway around the planet only to be cut down by a patch of frozen water. What a bummer.

Let's hope the judge has enough common sense to throw this out. No ... that won't happen.

Let's hope the jury has some common sense. No.. that won't happen.

Let's hope the Mrs. sees the light and drops the case. No....

Maybe her lawyers will talk her out of the case. Now I'm getting nuts ...

Oh well, give her the money. Giving it to her makes as much sense as clunkers for cash and bridges to no where.

Give me the peanuts....

Come out of the VFW on a Fri night, slips on ice that I'm sure was there on his way in,( bet he didn't slip into the bar )and now the wife wants to sue the VFW post.?? Lady...I feel bad that your husband died but give up the suit! I'd bet if your husband were still alive he would divorce you for even thinking of sueing his watering hole.! Why is it everyone wants to sue for nonsence. If he slipped in your own driveway and died would you sue your own homeowners innsurance..?? Get real lady...!!!

VFWs are open to veterans and their guests, run and upkept by veterans for veterans.
Maybe the "victim" should have sanded the driveway since it is run by its memebers

So crazy. Let's see if I understand. This is a VFW post, that I can't go to unless I'm invited, because I'm not a veteran. So this guy is a veteran, and he goes to what is essentially a private club ... so doesn't this member of the club have the same responsibility as the rest of the members to maybe take ten minutes and throw some salt or sand around the parking lot?

What do you expect from a druken piece of white trash, meanwhile what was he doing there, attempting to avoid his crazy wife. He should of stayed home and beat her. Another stupid lawsuit.

Newtown VFW is like that all they do is drink but not all vfw's are like that and it's ones like newtown that give them all a bad rep.

Its the property owners responsibilty to sand the driveway. If you rent an apt is it your responsinibilty to sand your driveway. Most likely it is the landlords responsibilty. This was not the members responsibilty. It was the property owners.
