the hypocracy reeks from a mile away. many people break or bend the rules fairly often. that's not an excuse, rather a statement of fact. those that cloak themselves in righteousness are often the worst offenders. ms. strasser made some bad decisions and panicked when she realized that trouble caught up with her (a very normal reaction - fright/flight). she has an unblemished record and has served her community with great care and talent for many years. surely, she deserves the chance to pay her dues and move on with her life. this is, afterall, one small blemish in an otherwise proud and distinguised lifetime of contribution.

She's a great person. The News Times cant find news so they make up their own news. This situation isn't half as bad as they make it out to be.

With all due respect, would you feel the same way if an innocent person had been killed?? Drunk driving is not a "blemish" - I think we should ALL be happy that no one got injured, including her, but I do not think DUI is something that should be written off as a one time mistake, sorry.

I used to have Mrs.Strasser as my reading and language arts teacher last year so I do know her pretty well. This news came to a shock for me since knowing Mrs.Strasser, it's "out of character".

After hearing about her incident, I felt pity and some sort of shame. I understand that mistakes happen, people commit many mistakes in their life and we shouldn't judge yet I do feel disappointed and a bit angry at her. It's a mix emotion. I know that she knows better which makes me feel disgusted at her.

I know I may be saying harsh comments but this is but she is an adult. I, as a teen, know drinking and driving is wrong. I know what to do in the future if I am in a situation in which I am drunk and inable to drive. Unfortunately, Mrs.Strasser didn't think of calling someone to pick her up. If she had called someone, she wouldn't have risked the lives of many. If she had called someone, she wouldn't be in so much disgrace.

This is an example in which a role model makes a mistake and has to deal with the difficult consequences. Hopefully, things turn out better for her because she truly is a magnificent teacher and person. She made a bad choice but that doesn't make her a bad person.

People make mistakes. Sure she made a bad decision, but that doesn't make her a bad person. I'm just happy she didn't hurt any innocent people and that she has to deal with the consequences.

As a former student, I do know that she is an amazing person but even so, she needs to deal with the consequences. Although it's "understandable" that she tried to flee but think about it, what if someone was killed and she got away with it? Do you really think it's fair? I love Mrs.Strasser and although she has an "unblemished" record, I want her to be treated the way any other person would be since it's only fair. I just hope she learns from this major mistake.

For all the immature students making unnecessary, nonsense comments about Mrs.Strasser, how about you all spend some time paying attention during reading/L.A. class? This way, you're all able to voice your opinions eloquently rather than childishly. Or maybe you would all enjoy gossiping about this on AIM?

alright...so basically mrs strasser taught me last year...and last year i was a mess. i didnt care about my work, and i was failing almost everyone of my classes. well guess who the woman who shaped me up is? the lady most of you are bashing right now. i love mrs strasser with all my heart and i will never forget all the good times in her homeroom and as a teacher.she taught me how to even get rid of the hiccups!
so i dont think this issue is anyones business but her own. shes an amazing teacher, and thats that. people make mistakes. people get drunk. so what. it happened, and no one has a right to put her down for it. it also shouldnt affect her future as a teacher, and if she gets fired i will sure as hell protest it. im willing to debate this with anyone who disagrees. so leave her alone, its none of your buisness. if she worked in the highschool kids wouldnt give it a second look because everyone at bethel high either drinks, smokes, or is on drugs and even some of the time
DRIVES while doing it. not saying its right, because its stupid, but ITS NO ONES GOD DAMN BUISNESS. btw..shes in her 50's not 70.

I had her as a teacher. To those of you who are misspelling every word in your posts, apparently you didn't pay attention in any of her eighth grade english classes.

Just because she's a nice person(and she is), doesnt' make this okay. There is no defending it. Wrong is wrong, and just because everyone here has done something wrong doesn't make a dui hit and run okay. Given the crime rate in Bethel and how boring of a town it is, I don't know if Bethel PD should give her a warning and thank her for giving them something to do or lock her up for life so Bethel could actually make a newspaper headline. I did find this article on the internet though, so I guess it's a step in the right direction for lil' ol' Bethel
