Aggrabated or not, we ought to keep our heads cool and stop showing off what we are not capable of doing. In a situation like this, Silence is the better choice. The media always specializes in selling SCOOPS to the public. Many of them survives on half truths to sell their wares. WAR is not the answer for settling the problem which is not really a problem if they do it amicably. Heated words can ignite the fuse AND CHINA HAS ALL THE NEEDED MATERIAL for all that. Ask yourselves", do you really and honestly think the Philippines alone can stop them ?

I remember when I was around ten or twelve years old, I always went with my friends to play soldiers in a bang bang war by the bushes in the plaza. Young kids always love that and they never tire from shooting at each other as cowboys or soldiers. All the wars in the past and in today's war, have always been done by young boys in their teens, but using older people to be officers. Veterans of Bataan have told of horrible sights during a battle were broken body parts were everywhere in the battlefields, some decaying and some bloody and recently killed.Young boys were often seen crying like babies and keeping their heads down in a ditch while bullets were criss crossing the area of battle. Today, again we see young boys eager to show off their uniform and guns to friends and relatives. If a war breaks out, once again will we run and hide from bombs and bullets, all because Hot Heads in government are angry and their impatience may just about start a war of all WARS !

Not much of a war. China would attack and the Philippines would surrender. No choice, nothing to fight with. Military Commanders appointed by corruption not skill, no aircraft or radar to see incoming Chinese attacks. Extremely old tanks in disrepair and the same with artillery.

Im not being mean either. These so called Generals have hidden money away and when China comes they are out of here to some safe country as with most of the politicians.

Can't dispute you on this one. Backing down in the face of superior adversary is the best thing there is the Philippines could do...if the leadership is not foolish enough to portray its macho image bathe in Filipino blood.

We cannot the Chinese with bolos and slingshots if China decides to swat the Philippines like a fly.

Better run to live and fight another day.

China is now a world power and they know it took them many difficult years to earn it. She will not be pushed into a war with the US when by good statesmanship they can both share the riches of the islands in question. Business as usual will be the order of the day. What about the Philipines ? As usual , many will want a share of that. Many are experts on Graft and corruption and that will fit in very nicely for those who know how to play the game.

That's realoly the easy part. China will market their craps and US will print money and buy all the oils in that islands and the PH politicians will fill their pockets and then another success story china get to be an economic power and US get's to drive muscle cars. Fnuken human race is still headed for extinctions and stinksions.

You proposing PH shoukld raise the white flag? China has points of vulnerability if it comes down to 1 on 1 situation. Surely china will not risk some considerable damage to their country and their political standings in the worlds countries. That would be a lot more to lose than to gain. It won't be just a bloody nose they are going to get hopefully but permanent long term damage. It depends on how the power countries percieve and what their sentiments inclinations.

The Philippines uses the U.S. as the source of all it's problems from prostitution, corruption, poverty even Pinatubo. It goes very noticed that when you need help they are begging for us and the very minute were done helping your back to protesting us.

Please just last year the USA and European Union took a UN no fly zone resolution

and attacked Gadaffi forces on the ground and

tried and assassinate Gadaddi at the time...

no one gives a sheit when soldiers die

women and children....maybe

but out at these isolated Islands its mostly water and land which no one wants to live on...

the reality is they should just share the profits...

bottom line it will be an american company or Chinese company exploring and drilling the oil even if someone got full ownership

hey dude, they could (china)probably run the philippines over without amerika on its back, which will be highly unlikely! but if so.. they aint gonna win against the resistance! the japanese struggled with the philippine guerilla fighters, the japs struggled in BATAAN and china is no where close to how mighty the japanese forces were. guerilla fighting is everything in the modern art of warfare look at vietnam, afghanistan and iraq! dont forget that its a filipino that help caught che guevarra.our islands cannot be conquered i say bring it on china and and suffer backlash of everything youve achieved.

dummy the area in dispute isnt on the the Philippines mainland...

Chinese troops would not have to step foot on Luzon or anywhere else...

just blow away your entire Navy...(the gifted American coast guard cutter...) and the disputed Islands are theirs...

they could just drops bombs on you from space and let the Kinetic energy of a object drop from that high do its job

but the reality is.... guerrilla fighting works if you have support of the villagers...

but Chinese will do what America did to the Philippines in their war at the turn of the century... kill every man women and child...

until the guerrilla force gives up... or cannot replenish their ranks...

China killed 100 million of its own people... dont think they wont kill 92 million Filipinos...

especially when China has openly said its got 300 million TOO MANY people living in China right now as is... and 24 million single men who will never get married...

The world despises bullies and bullies are the big guys pusdhing the little guys. The japanese were bullies because they were big militarily but had since denounce offensive power capability as that power give them the will and atittude to make war which finally ended with suffering of their people. Now what big china doing is getting confident of their power and try to intimidate and push all the little guys on their way. Humans are really amazing.

The Effects of ‘Youth Bulge’ on Civil Conflicts

Author: Lionel Beehner
April 27, 2007

Introduction

A new study by Population Action International (PAI), a Washington-based private advocacy group, suggests a strong correlation between countries prone to civil conflicts and those with burgeoning youth populations. Social scientists label this demographic profile “youth bulge,” and its potential to destabilize countries in the developing world is gaining wider acceptance among the American foreign policy community. The theory contends that societies with rapidly growing young populations often end up with rampant unemployment and large pools of disaffected youths who are more susceptible to recruitment into rebel or terrorist groups. Countries with weak political institutions are most vulnerable to youth-bulge-related violence and social unrest.

What are the origins of this theory?

The term was coined by German social scientist Gunnar Heinsohn in the mid-1990s but has gained greater currency in recent years, thanks to the work of American political scientists Gary Fuller and Jack A. Goldstone. They argue that developing countries undergoing “demographic transition”—or those moving from high to low fertility and mortality rates—are especially vulnerable to civil conflict.“A large proportion of young adults and a rapid rate of growth in the working-age population tend to exacerbate unemployment, prolong dependency on parents, diminish self-esteem and fuel frustrations,” writes Richard P. Cincotta, a consultant to the National Intelligence Council’s Long Range Analysis Unit.

While this kind of frustration and competition for jobs do not directly fuel violence, they do increase the likelihood these unemployed youths will seek social and economic advancement by alternative, extralegal means.“If you have no other options and not much else going on, the opportunity cost of joining an armed movement may be low,” says Michelle Gavin, CFR’s international affairs fellow. And because young people have fewer responsibilities, like families or careers to tend to, that makes them more prone to taking up arms.
