I sent my sons there in the late 70's and early 80's and it was a great experience for them. They, and their friends, still have very good memories of being there.

I went to DB last year (2010). I'm going again this year! Best experience ever!!! In the art cabin we searched for a counselor signature on the wall from 1952!

I guess we are talking about a different camp Don Bosco? I'm thinking of the one in Carnation, WA.
The Camp Don Bosco here is still open. My cabin and I swept the basketball court and scraped up the moss sp it looked nice. Then we attempted to make a brown sugar facial but it just turned out to be a big mess!!!

I went to from 78-85 and it was some of the most memorable times of my life. I just saw pics of the chapel and cabins and it just toar me apart. I will never forget this palce and will always be grateful to the priest and brothers who ran it with respect and dignity.

Hi
My name is Josť B. I live in Madrid and attended Camp Don Bosco in summer 1972. I spent 8 weeks in the camp. I went there to learn English and was my first trip abroad without my family. I was 12 years old and although it was a hard time for me I keep very good memories from that time. I recall that the name of my cabin was St. John.
Does anybody recall Brother Chico and Brother Armen (i do not know if the spelling is correct).
When that summer finished I came back to Spain.

I was a camper at CDB from 1966-1971 and my sister Valerie went to the girls camp about a mile away. Great memories and alot of fun. Looking for some campers, Priests or Brothers from that time frame.
Just to touch base and remember the old times. God Bless all.
As told before I attended Don Bosco Camp in 1971 or 72, I do not recall it very well. I slept at St Francis Cabin. I recall two Brothers, Br. Armen (I do not know if it is the correct spelling) and Br. Chico (I think he came from Puerto Rico).
I am a Spaniard and live in Madrid, Spain. At that time I was 11 years old and was my first travel abroad without my family. I went to Camp Don Bosco to learn English and spent all summer (8 weeks).
When that summer finished I came back to Spain.
My real name is Josť
Do you have any picture of that time?
Thanks a lot and best regards,
Josť B.

As a kid living in Brooklyn, I attended Camp Don Bosco in the 50's. I remember the lake down the mountain. It had a u shaped dock that we dove from. Is this the same camp? I would love to revisit this camp, but can't remember its location. Is anyone out there in thier 60's that can help me out?
Tom, You are definitely talking about Camp Don Bosco in Newton, N.J. I was a camper there 1950-55.All the camp buildings are gone. Nothing remains of the camp. The lake is still there but only that and many wonderful memories. It would be worthwhile for you to revisit the grounds. You would see in your minds eye many of the activities you were a party of. I have returned to the camp every year. Even though the buildings are gone I still love the place.

I was a camper at CDB 1950-1955. Six of the best years of my childhood. Model building, ping pong, horsehback riding, horse shoes, boating, swimming, fishing, Thursday hikes, campfires, morning mass, evening prayers, trips in the back of the camp's stake body truck to Mt.Don Bosco in Ellenville, NY. Talks with the Brothers.
Boxing matches and pillow fights on rainy days.

Bill, you hit it all on the head... I think the morning Mass, and nightly prayers instilled my Religeous mindset. I have 7 children and have related all those stoies about camp to them.. My youngest is now 22...... time to start telling my 4 grandchildren....Camp Baseball Team, Horseback riding and Swimming were my 3 favorites... of course the afternoon trip to the Canteen was high up there too....remeber BUG JUICE...

I was a summer camper and winter time at the boys club all thru the 80s. We pretty much just played floor hockey. Had a league that played friday and sat nights in winter. Bro. Paul was the man back then. Jim and mike Martinko, Mike fernandez, roland steele, these were a few of the regular campers I remember, anyone from this time still out there?

I was wondering where the chapel is located today. I live close to Sussex County Community College which is now on the grounds of Don Bosco College. Can you tell me the exact location of where the chapel is? I'd love to visit!

Hey... Paul, Those times were amazing, and I still miss the place even to this day. Its sad to see what Sussex county Community College has done to the place. Street Hockey was great, even though I may have not been that good, and didn't play in the league.. Its too bad they don't do that in Delaware,

I was @ Camp Don Bosco in Newton NJ for the 76-77 season and before that,@ the day camp in Stony Point from 73-75.Some of the most clearest and fondest memories of my youth. I attended Newton at the same time that Fr. Steve R. was a camper. Does anyone remember ,"Sky King", the camp DJ who liked to play Beatle's songs? The pavillion, balsa wood airplanes, boating, fishing, horseback, arts and crafts, archery, math tutoring, riding, campfires, daily mass!, and so many Hail Mary's! That's how we got the olympic sized swimming pool, through the intercession of Mary. We stormed the gates of heaven with Hail Mary's morning ,noon and night.
Both, the Brothers and Priests had a very positive influence on me. I even convinced my best friend to join me. I had an opportunity to see the old camp a few years ago. It made me sad to see it go to waste....Check out the link for images...

I appreciate what we had and am thankful for it and all the religous who were there for us. I truly believe in my heart that St. Don Bosco saw Newton and his boys in his many visions
