Has anyone here ever had a procedure performed by Complete Laser Clinic (located in Valley Hills Mall)? I was thinking of getting some fillers, but I noticed through my research, the Dr isn't board certified in plastic surgery, so I question his abilities.

i would NOT go there if I were you! My opinion: a bunch of quacks. I went there once for their "weight loss" program (but I did not return for another visit) and one of the Physicians Assistants was laying in the room next to me, moaning and groaning in pain due to a procedure that she herself had had done THERE earlier in the day...so what does that tell you?

It is a very bad idea to have any cosmetic procedure performed by a non-board certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist. The doc at the Complete Laser Clinic is an emergency room physician! Would you go to a urologist to deliver your baby? Of course not. Spend a few dollars more and go to a real specialist.

I've been to the clinic in Hickory and had a horrible experience and have perminant scars from a procedure. This was my post to yelp:

Do not go to this place! They are butchers! I had tattoo removal treatments and am left with severe scarring and a tattoo that never disappeared. The people performing the procedures only have low level nursing degrees and are often recently graduated, and I was never seen by an actual doctor for any of the procedures. Instead, the people who do the procedures consult with the doctor over an office phone regarding steps in procedure and the doctor is never at the location. To top it off, this place is in the mall. Please go to a professional clinic where an actual doctor with an MD does or actively overseas the procedure. I cannot express how shady and horrible this clinic is.

I went there to get the veins in my legs done. I'm happy.....I was concerned at first. They weren't going away at first, but the doctor assured me that everything was normal and that they would go away. I'm glad I went and had the procedure done. My legs look good....especially the veins on my right thigh!!! I'm happy and will go again.

They are a rip off. I paid $100 for a treatment to get rid of my moles and they told me that if my moles came back that they will take it off again for free. They came back and when I went for them to remove them AGAIN they said that they never said that.

Complete laser clinic is a great facility. Dr Hamel is not a plastic surgeon. In order to have that title you have to put people to sleep during surgery, which he does not do. He speaks at SERVERAL medical conferences about the lasers and procedures he does and trains other doctors. So I dont think he is considered a "quack". He is very skilled and very good at what he does. Yes it is sometimes painful but that's just the price we pay to look better. And for tattoos, it is clearly stated scarring may occur. If you are so worried about your skin you wouldn't have gotten the tattoo in the first place.:)

Certification Examinations

Physicians seeking board certification in a given area of specialty must successfully complete and pass an examination process designed to test their mastery of the minimum knowledge and skills contained in the core competency document. Prior to taking the examination, a physician must graduate with a degree, either MD or DO, and meet all other prerequisites to certification as set out by the certifying agency or "board."
The examination itself may consist of one or more parts. Traditionally, an exhaustive written examination is required of all candidates for board certifications in any specialty. While written examinations are adequate measures of basic knowledge, they do not test the mastery of skills or the application of knowledge as well. Many specialties have over the decades attempted to evaluate skills through "practical" examinations using "model" patients (actors) or by observing the physician candidate in a clinical environment. The practical examination has been criticized for being subjective and irreproducible even in the hands of an experienced examiner. As a result, computerized animatronic human patient simulator based examinations are now being adopted. The traditional written examination is also rapidly being replaced by computer-based testing.

I have had super results from Dr. Hamel and staff.I chose CLC due to the fact they perform services daily with success. Dont let the Board certified money grappers overcharge you for same services. Very Happy!

I have also seen board certified plastic surgeons who were incompetent in their field and did a real botch up job!!!!!!

I'm glad you think this is a great facility but would like to correct you on the "title" plastic surgeon. They have continuing education not just "put people to sleep" as worded. The additional educatiion in that particular specialty is the difference

It is a skill and I would say the ER docs get more practice patching up the worst cases ever and if they do a lousy job that just makes it harder on the board certified "Plastic surgeons", therefore the ER docs would be fired.

I was a little skeptical about getting my tummy tuck at complete laser clinic. I was nervous about the reviews saying Dr. Hamel was not board certified and the prices seemed to good to be true. After a year or so of contemplating I went in for a consultation in the Gastonia office. After the consultation I came home and thought about it some more. Well finally after continuing to look at what I call my kangaroo pouch that's what I was calling my tummy I decided it was time. I went ahead and made my appointment driving to the Nebo, NC office I was so nervous. When I went with a friend and we walked in greeted by the receptionist who was so welcoming. We also seen a wall full of awards he recieved world wide!! This made me feel a lot less nervous. It was time for my appt. and I finally got to meet the famous Mr. Hamel as well as Jen his assistant who was also awesome! Well Dr. Hamel was the absolute best he was honest comforting and sweet as pie. He gave me a break down of how it all goes down. I was so relaxed by the end of our conversation I became anxious and excited!!! All I can say is this after two weeks of my tummy tuck I couldn't be more pleased. I'm still a little sore but the compliments are just pouring in. I mean coming from a girl which much gut I can honestly say I looked really darn good!!! My only regret is I hadn't done it sooner. I'm shocked at the way the cut is healing and how fine the line is. I'm just really happy n pleased with the results! I went to work 6 days after my surgery and was okay. Thank you do much Dr.Hamel I'm so glad I chose you!!! I have friends who seen my results and have already booked appointments!!! I will recommend him to anyone looking for a great cosmetic surgery price!!! Again thank you!!!

Do not go there!!!! Inexperienced technician performed a facial laser procedure that left my face scarred and completely disfigured for life!! I can't believe I fell for their quackery and inexperience. I spend my days avoiding mirrors and try not to notice the gasps and stares of people who view my face. What I would do to have my old face/complexion back. On top of it all, dr. Hamel said that my face looked great and he didn't know what I was referring to when I confronted him with his clinic's damage. I have a dermatologist and a plastic surgeon who have told me that he ruined my face.
