I know Sandee. My husband and I were on our way to a restaurant on 127 and drove up on the accident. It was horrible. I just began to pray for the family who, at that point, had no idea he had been killed. I sure hope the girl wasn't texting. SMH

I am wondering why no charges as yet? I served 10 years in law enforcement and even in a normal accident the driver who hits someone from behind is always at fault. This accident involves a fatality. A man on his motorcycle...not showing off...just sitting at a red light and his life is taken from him by a driver who evidently was not paying attention. There is no excuse for this man's life being taken from him by a careless driver.

The driver should be put in jail. She is a menace to society, having killed innocent people by not paying attention while driving. She may learn her lesson as a result of this, but still owes a debt to society by having committed a crime and now must repay the debt.

I hope the family of the victim comes after her in civil court as well. So sad.

From what I have been told by someone "in the know"...the driver of the Acura was texting at the time of the accident. Th ultimate oxymoron....Smart Phone/Idiot Driver. I hope she gets the max punishment allowed by the law. She is a menace to society.

Condolence to the rider who was no doubt out enjoying a ride on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. I wonder what information was of such critical importance that the driver valued it more than human life. My guess "Yo, whattup? weare u be, wut yo be doin,?

I really feel for this guy and his family. I have come very close to being hit on numerous occasions by moron drivers who were not paying attention. When I stop at a light, whether it is behind a car or at the light, I always pull as far to the left or right that I can get to help keep idiots from slamming into me from behind.

It doesn't matter WHAT she was doing, she should be in jail. If she was texting, she should get life. They need to make an example of someone. If that had been my son she hit, she would be praying for prison.

Any word on the age of the driver of the Acura?

It is a shame that nothing has been reported about what is going to happen...as far as charging the driver...she may end up being her own judge and jury, having to live with the fact that she ended a life, which would be horrible in itself...can't help but wonder what the outcome will be???

I was told she is 20. After being struck from behind while stopped at a red light, I've learned to leave a gap between my front bumper and the vehicle in front of me...leaving me an "escape route" if necessary. Doing this saved me a couple of years ago...stopped again at a red light, saw the car approaching from behind wasn't going to get stopped, so I gunned it and shot to the left onto the shoulder of the road...naturally the car in front of me was smashed. Idiot driver was texting....

What does her age have to do with anything? I would love to know because I can't seem to find a logical reason to ask.

Who determined that the driver was texting? If she was; its only logical to assume that the driver who was texting was younger (if that even was the cause of the accident). An older more experienced driver would most likely not have been texting.

If the driver was older (since everything is hearsay) could have had considerably slow reactions or poor eyesight and not of seen the light or motorcycle.

No matter case even if the woman had been in perfect health, eye sight, and no phone in hand poor driving and judgment was used that day. Being careless is no excuse for being responsible for taking a life. Full punishment should be expected, but will never be sought if she can afford a decent attorney who can prolong and continue the case for years and get nothing more than a few hours of community service at best. such a shame our justice system is.

I couldn't agree more. Be glad ur not in Lenoir tho...where lawyers are crackhead and police officers oath of protection and morals is 90% for the criminal rather than the victim.
God bless us all. Too many evil humans and too much praise and or complacency for the immoral. How can we expect God not to ignore us.

AS SOMEONE WHO IS ACTUALLY "IN THE KNOW", THE YOUNG LADY'S PHONE RECORDS SHOW THAT HER PHONE PLAYED NO PART IN THE ACCIDENT. THE ACCIDENT IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION. NO MATTER WHAT THE OUTCOME, SHE REALIZES THE IMPACT SHE MADE ON A FAMILY AND WOULD DO ANYTHING TO TAKE IT BACK. MAY WANT TO TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THAT SHE ALSO HAS A LIFE. HER LIFE, TOO, WAS DRAMATICALLY CHANGED IN AN INSTANT; THROWING "HER IN JAIL" WILL NOT GIVE MR.TODD'S HIS LIFE BACK.

So you're saying she's simply a complete moron? IIRC, it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon...no excuse for a slippery road, fog, sun in her eyes, etc...She simply just zoned out, failed to see the red light, the gentleman sitting on his bike, etc? She's a menace to society if she's that irresponsible. We'll be better off if an idiot like that is behind bars.

I'm sure she felt "special" being young and driving around in an Acura SUV....hopefully the victim didn't suffer and his death was quick. What consideration should she be given? What is her excuse for running this man down?

I was the third car to stop at the scene and evidently, you are not sure! Because the girl was driving an Acura but it wasn't an SUV. I first glance I thought it was a Honda Accord. So you need to get your facts straight before making statements. Does driving an older model Acura make someone feel "special"? That is a moronic statement. Was she at fault? certainly! Both families were destroyed that afternoon. So before you start making accusations, take a look at yourself. I would almost be willing to bet that your own driving style isn't perfect either. She should be held accountable, that doesn't mean the death penalty. The only advise I can give is that prayers for both families are needed and I am certain that they are wanted as well.
