Arthur Schaper: Mass GOP Takes On Forever Gas Tax
As early as 2003 , the University of Massachusetts discovered that middle-class families, the core of civic communities according to the report, had declined to establish themselves in the Bay State, instead opting for no-sales-tax New Hampshire or leaving New England entirely.

just remember that axiom from economics 101 which states/
What you tax you get less of what you subsidize you get more of.
Now look around your city county state see all those jobs leaving and all those illegal immigrants piling on the welfare rolls, unions dictating the future???
Now if you were collectively smart enough to tax welfare and illegals and subsidize jobs get rid of unions......
you would have a thriving economy built on jobs and working people.
let the unions strike someplace else like Detroit for example and they could take the illegals with them to Detroit.

Of course, the gas tax "sticks it" more to suruban and rural areas of the state than the urban east/Boston area.
Live in the burbs, or heaven forbid the Western part of the state, and have to drive? Too bad.
And spare me "paying for the roads". Much of the gas tax is siphoned off to the general fund, used for everything except roads.
