Um...I think you mean Kris Kobach? The former chairman of Kansas Republican Party and city councilman in Overland Park, Kansas.

I don't think you have read anything...or you would at least know how to spell his name.

Sounds to me that you are quoting the rumor mill.

Post up what you think you know.

As we wait for "Roo" this might be intresting to ponder as well.President Obama's Justice Department continues to stonewall inquiries about why it dropped a voter intimidation case against the New Black Panther Party.

The episode—which Bartle Bull, a former civil rights lawyer and publisher of the left-wing Village Voice, calls "the most blatant form of voter intimidation I've ever seen"—began on Election Day 2008. Mr. Bull and others witnessed two Black Panthers in paramilitary garb at a polling place near downtown Philadelphia.(Some of this behavior is on YouTube.)

One of them, they say, brandished a nightstick at the entrance and pointed it at voters and both made racial threats. Mr. Bull says he heard one yell "You are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker!"

In the first week of January, the Justice Department filed a civil lawsuit against the New Black Panther Party and three of its members, saying they violated the 1965 Voting Rights Act by scaring voters with the weapon, uniforms and racial slurs. In March, Mr. Bull submitted an affidavit at Justice's request to support its lawsuit.

Actually the above was a conflict between the NBPs and a Republican pollwatcher, not voters in that precinct. The whole thing was a tempest in a teapot which is why DOJ dropped it.

BTW, the NBPs are on the SPLC's hate group list: www.splcenter.org

I'll just repeat this part of the account. Notice that the term "voter" is clearly used.

Have you not read the news? This kobach guy wants everyone to produce a photo id in order to vote. He says there has been 120 individual instances of a problem with people voting in the last several elections. 120 as opposed to close to a million votes cast in the last elections. Massive voter fraud? I doubt that very seriously. This has been tried in other states before and in each case it resulted in lower numbers of voters casting votes. Especially in the lower or poor wage earner groups. Last time I checked it cost eight dollars minimum to renew or change your address on a Kansas drivers license. Some don't have that kind of money to waste. Also I seem to remember the last time there was a national debate about not counting votes. Result was an un elected president installed by the supreme court by not counting votes of Americans. So I guess you might say I am very skeptical of any republican attempt to not count votes or stop people from voting. Facts enough for you?

It was West Philly. The only grey there was the Republican pollwatcher.

Also any time a republican says they want to make things better for you, you can bet it is going to cost you. They do not do anything unless it benefits business and shoves the cost onto john q public. I will give you this much credit. They are masters at hiding what they do and convincing people that it does not amount to deliberate theft. You asked for several posts Roo lies.

What's the problem with producing a photo ID to vote?

Good grief, have you ever cashed a check?

This is just another example of Democrats making problems where they don't exist.

IF you can't cash your welfare check without a photo ID, why the hell should you be allowed to vote without a photo ID?

WHO here legally that is voting age would NOT have access to a photo ID?

Problems where they don't exist such as 120 problematic votes out of a million cast is evidence of voter fraud? Get real. So you have read kobachs press releases. Then why the questions to us when you know what we are saying is true. Are you telling us now that he did not say this stuff and the papers lied? Just exactly which spin do you now want us to believe? What we read in the press releases or what you say? It is not about having access to an ID. It is about making one more unnecessary law to comply with. Don't the poll workers where you vote know you? If not why not. They do where I vote and I always take at least one deed to one of my properties so they can not stop me from voting. In god we trust, all others cash and never ever trust a republican. Words to live and prosper by.

With voter turn-out at record low levels due to apathy and disconnect and distrust, is voter ID really even an issue? Any more than those foolish, leftist climate change concerns? Sounds like a bunch of jerks looking for another excuse to screw with people for petty, partisan reasons.

Agreed.

However voter fraud is one of the reasons sited by the apathetic.

Again, what's wrong with showing your ID to vote?

Why wouldn't you have an ID?

Panicky lefties looking for something new to rail about.

How about posting up a few facts with your BS.

One fact is voter fraud is a myth created by Republicans to skeer older whites about African-Americans and Latinos voting.
