I think both boys should be punished for their actions. If I were the parents I would be ashamed of both of their actions.
I've raised two boys now ages 22 and 20. They both played multiple sports including basketball and neither one of them ever did anything like this. They both new if they would've done such a thing they would've also had consequences to deal with at home. I was raised playing sports and my parents taught me to be a good sport win or lose. It was tough at times but I tried very hard to pass the values down to my boys with success. I'm not saying my boys are perfect but they were taught good sportmanship and values starting at a young age.

CHUCK JOHSNON - I think your parents should have taught you more values in life and maybe you wouldn't make such idiotic comments as you did.

We put to much presure on young boys and girls in sports. It is win at cost. I do not condone the actions of either boy but I wonder what happened to playing the game for just the fun of playing the game. Sports can and does teach alot of good leasons but they are just games and should never be put above good morals or proper behavior. After the game all sould be able to walk off the field or court knowing that they tried their best but have good feelings towards thier opponents not hostility.

I see the violent animal will soon be sent to jail where he belongs. Of course next time it will be a much longer stay. Society needs to be protected against these criminal types.

The only people defending the player in black are Wichita people. The rest of the country that have watched the tape think that the player in black in the wrong, big time.
I watched thed taped and after the rebound the kid in white does protect the ball, but I didn't see him hitting the kid in black in the mouth. If he had, the player in black would have been the kid down.
The kid in black needs to go to jail for a few days and learn never to lose control again. And the coach for the kid him black in a jerk! Sorry Wichita people, thats just the way it is.

It's obvious where the player learned his attitude from...the coach. Maples should be held liable for the incident also. An apology? He should publicly give one to the injured boy and his family. What a jerk.
Yeah!! I hear his wife just divorced him because of his abuse. It's easy to see where this kid learns his attitude from. Coach = Role Model.

i know the guy and this is what happened. the guy was getting mad bc he was getting beat. so he started talking trash. then he called him a racial remark and he paid for it. i agree it shouldnt have happened but he shouldn't have called him waht he did.

i think that the person that threw punches first should take the consequences. All the opponent was trying to do was defend theirselves.

Are you INSANE? What part of this video do you see as "just a fight between two kids"? There is no part of this that is OK. Pushing and shoving is just part of basketball, but this is anger of another sort. This young black kid has serious anger issues. He needs to be dealt with before he ends up in a gang, or worse..<quoted text>
i think what you said was racial profiling because i know this man and he is kind hearted and he hit him after the boy in the white pushed him and said a racial slur coming from the one who pounded the boys face in. the white boy got what he desirved! you see that everyone took vascals side because he didn't say that his son called him out of his name in which african americans do not like to be called!!!

I think that criminal charges should be filed against this kid. I understand rough play but intentionally getting on top of an unconscious person and pummeling them is inexcusable.
I hope the DA does the right thing in order to teach other kids a lesson concerning sportsmanlike and humanlike conduct.

I believe the kid who threw the punches should be counseled by a psychologist or psychiatrist, and possibly prosecuted in a court of law. I understand how athletes can get agressive during a contest, but the unbridled ferocity of this attack tells me that the attacker has some very serious self control problems. If he acts like this in a supervised contest, how will he act when the public is not watching? Or worse yet, how will he control his rage if he should happen to gain access to guns or other weapons?
I also think your dumb because the other guy started it by pushing and calling him the n-word now did ya get that side of the story???Didnt think sooo!!1

That's just inexcusable behavior. The black-uniformed boy just went too far. He needs to realize that he crossed the line between retaliation/a regular fight, and assault. I don't think the boy should go to Juvenile Hall, I think he should just get some counselling to prevent violent outbursts like this from happening again.

I really hate seeing videos where blacks are being violent like this. It just strengthens the negative stereotype that we're all a bunch of street thugs.

Well.. Trucker that is true. The only problem is, is that parents these days put alot of pressure on their kids and the coaches if they don't get the play time. I watched to many parents at games get pissy if there kid didn't get to play because of their so called popular name(money throwing folks) and after the game they went to the coach and threatened him/her because they would have them fired by vote of school board cause of the money they tossed at the school. So another one of lifes punishments is having the say so in your childs future. Sorry to say we can't win them all. But those of us who use our moral judgement knows what the game is all about, just so many others are blind by stupidity . What ashame...
