So sorry for your loss. I could not begin to imagine my life without my children. At the same time she must of made a mistake while driving that no one will ever know that took her life and injuried others. People need to slow down, get off the cell phone, and be more aware as a driver what is going on while driving. Even with the new law I still see several drivers texting or talking on cell phones on the Interstates.

I drive I 80 every nite going to illinois and back to des moines. The way people drive its real lucky theres not more accidents and deaths out there. There are some very very inconsiderate and impatient drivers out there.

It isn't illegal for most drivers to talk on cell phones while driving in IA. People do, however, need to know their limits. Some people can do it safely and others can't. Those who can't need to acknowledge that instead of pushing for a total ban.

There was new laws that took place pretaining to the use of cell phones on Intersates that took effect July 1, 2010. I know texting has been band in Iowa for all and I still see it happening.

Why are we debating something that is "assumed"? Nobody knows how the accident occurred, but a young woman lost her life and people are trying to "reason" what may have caused it. The young lady's mother told us who she was (which is more than she obligated to do) I feel for her family! No matter what caused the accident, the family is grieving. Period. How would you feel if your family member was killed and people were trying to fill in the blanks with unknown circumstances?

I'm aware of the new laws. I said "talking" in response to your incorrect inclusion about "talking" on cell phones.

I don't think Shell was either explicitly or implicitly stating that this was what happened here. She was simply saying that she sees a certain activity on the road. If you read the posts more thoroughly, you will see that this is on the sub-topics of road rules and road safety. Nobody has yet said what actually did cause this one (though we would all like to know).

I was driving home from Wisconsin yesterday when I saw the remains of this crash, & I instantly felt my heart sink, I knew there was no way the person in the SUV came out alive. It was horrifying, I was crying.
My thoughts & prayers go out to the family members of Natesha & others that were injured, no matter WHAT the cause of the accident. A beautiful life was lost, that is all I know.

I did not say what may have caused this accident. I just said accidents are going to happen because of drivers not being aware and using cell phone and etc. and not paying attention. I feel for this family and I could not imagine having to lose a child. I have a son in Afghanistan fighting for our country and I worry about him everyday losing his life. So read what is there and not assume what isnt there.

It's the "SHE must of made a MISTAKE" that made me reply. Perhaps there was a medical condition/car malfunction-for that we will not know until the investigation concludes. I agree with the crazy drivers/electronics use on our roads, but we just don't know until it's final. That's all I was getting at.

Natesha was such a good girl. She asked for my help finding a car so she could get home to her mom she was excited about going to school in the fall. From what i understand she was heading home from the library with a book she had gotten for school work.the young lady that sold her the car was showing it to another gentleman but upon hearing that Natesha needed it to get home she sold it to her. Bee i am sorry for what you saw but am grateful you posted your comments so for those of us that knew Natesha what she endured .God rest her soul.

Keep letting your kids drive with their cell phones. Texting, carrying on, going to parties at 4AM and driving into swollen creeks--while no doubt talking on the PHONE or texting.

Basically, I see Darwin at work here. Those who "GET IT" and realize that driving is a RESPONSIBILITY and should be handled responsiBLY--will live to carry on their common sense genes. The others....well, they give me something to read with my morning coffee. Sad, really.

She was a wonderful girl. My husband was her boss at work and could not believe it when he got the phone call last night. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of your family.

i was in the eastbound lanes about 30 vehicles behind the semi-trailer that was clipped in the accident. i don't believe the driver could have survived the initial collision. the flames engulfed the vehicle so quickly, there was nothing anyone could do. i join the others in offering my prayers for the family of the young woman and the others injured in the van.

Thank you all for the prayers. Natesha is my niece and just to let you all know she was not on cell, phone infact her phone lies on her bed as I type this. There is no apparent cause for any of this. I am begging for my sister Patricia's sake that you all stop debating weather this child made a mistake, she was an excellent driver with a clean record. No one wants answers more than my sister and her heart goes out to the other people who where in the crash and they are heavily in our prayers. I ask that each and everyone of you hold your love ones close very close and if you have not told them that you love them yet today do so immediately. I pray that no other has to walk where my sister is walking. I thank you all for your prayers.
From our hearts to all of yours
Carol
