For anyone considering buying either brand. Don't
you'll be sorry. After buying there best washer
and dryer. Maytag Neptune we find out we bought
a lemon. Class action lawsuit was filed. They
lost, but did not tell the consumer. You had to
find out somehow. Maytag owners were screwed
over by a problem Maytag knew about. Whirlpool
bought Maytag and did not do anything about helping
Maytag owners. Washed there hands of it. Whirlpool
sucks also. They make many Sears brands. Buyer
beware and buy something else. We bought LG washer/dryer and getting ready to buy a LG refrigerator.

In 2003 we bought washer, dryer, dishwasher, fridge and stove All Maytag. Dishwasher had the motor and some drain replaced first year under warranty and the handle broke 3 times I fixed it myself. The racks are rusting and there are no replacements available. The washing machine is a disaster, the smell of the clothes is disgusting. I've replaced the bearing myself and when I had it apart I couldn't believe the gross buildup that was causing the smell. It was OK for less then a year but no the disgusting smell is back again NICE!!!!!! The Wide by Side refrigerator has an ice maker/water dispenser after a year it made a growling sound and I was going to get it repaired but I was so angry at Maytag that I left it and the problem went away. The dryer seems to be OK and the double oven stove is great, good idea. I'll never buy another Maytag product or one from any company associated with Maytag. I have been spreading word to as many people as possible. The only guy that will never be out of work is the Maytag repair man!!!

DON'T BUY MAYTAG or WHIRLPOOL!!
They don't care about service, they appear to be happy taking our money and not supportting the products they sell.We purchased all new appliance and thought MayTag was the way to go. Boy, were we wrong. Our Maytag Quiet Service 300 dishwasher stopped working about 16 months after we purchased it. Thank God we bought this dishwasher
on my MasterCard and received an extra years warranty. The Machine cost $529 CAN plus taxes, the repairs (The circuit board) cost more then the dishwasher. All cost covered by MasterCard. Only problem is that it has about 8 weeks and it's still not fixed. They claim the will be available in 24 hrs. same BS since the beginning. Finally pissed off, this is not acceptable, Whirlpool should be working harder to keep customers, especially in the current economic environment. But it is ovious they don't care. They are happy taking our money and they act as if they don't care that we will never buy another MayTag or Whirpool product. Maybe they should have their credit rating lowered. I Just cannot believe a corporation as large as Whirpool has such AWEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. I realy hope they read these and understand that people are tired of them and at this rate their days are numbered. There are other companies to deal with like LG and other off shore company that work hard to help customers.

You love Maytag because these POS keep on falling apart. Enjoy the money you make off these unsuspecting consumers, Just remember eventually everyone will know that these appliances are pieces of shit and unfortunely the poor employees that work for this company will be looking for work. But I guess Whirlpool will start buying Chinese appliance companies and build their crap overseas and sell under other names.

We bought our top-of-the-line Maytag Centennial (MVWC700VW1) washing machine in late 2009. Right from the start, it gave us problems. The solenoids that control the hot and cold water bang open and closed multiple times per minute creating terrible water hammer in the pipes of our house. This caused a pipe to spring a leak, resulting in $1500 in water damage to a downstairs bathroom. The worst part of the washer is it does not get the clothes clean. We often have to run the same load 2-3 times. We have seen an increase in our water bill since we bought this washer. Finally, the machine is extremely noisy. This week, we cheered as the appliance delivery people installed our new Samsung and hauled the Maytag junk away. We won't ever buy another Whirlpool/Maytag product.

Maytag sucks.

I bought a package deal from Lowes. A microwave, stove, dishwasher, Ice2O refrigerator. After two years the refrigerator motherboard had to bee replaced, the element on the dishwasher quit working, and the back panel on the stove cracked. Both the refrigerator and dishwasher were on recall and had been fixed. I had to pay for the oven panel myself. Now, three years later, the dishwasher makes funny sounds and the display started flashing. I had to unplug the electrical chord from under the sink and plug it back in to get the dishwasher to reset.

The only thing that has not broken down is the built in microwave.

NEVER AGAIN! Will I buy another Maytag. And I promise to tell 1000 people never to buy another Maytag item again.

The TV commercial with the sleeping service tech is a scam.

Maytag sucks!

Maytag is an absolutely sub-par company that manufactures a terrible product. I bought a Maytag dishwasher several months ago from the Home Depot and it has leaked since day one. Five service calls later and it is still leaking. Other appliance reps have stated that Maytag products are poorly made and require a great deal of repairs. Maytag customer service is very poor, apathetic and uncaring. They make horrible products, have little care for customers and refuse to be replace defective appliances. I will do whatever I can to let everyone know that Maytag produces inferior products and they should be avoided.

Maytag is a horrible company that was bought by Whirlpool. I bought a dishwasher that was recalled because they have had over 135 fires or close to fires. They promised to fix it or give a voucher for 75$ to buy a brand new one. I chose to have it repaired. they said they would have it fixed in 10 days. Now it is three weeks and I find out that they are backordered on parts for a big chunk of 2 million dishwashers and the parts will not be in earlier than three weeks from now. Maytag will do nothing for me. I did not buy a dishwasher to do dishes by hand. AVOID WHIRLPOOL, MAYTAG, KITCHEN AID, AND AMANA. They are all the same cheep no good clowns that do not care about their customer. I want a dishwasher that works, thats it.

Maytag which now owns Whirlpool are pathetic and they rip off their customers. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE another one of their products. Bought dishwasher, broke in 2nd month, should have returned..... then several times after so took out extended warranty, and has broke over 20 times...... they will replace with a new one for 400.00. I paid around 6-700.00 and a couple hundred more with extended warranty. No damn way would I pay 400. It is garbage, sucks, customer service at Maytag sucks and they should be ashamed of themselves. Trust me, DO NOT BUY ANY OF THEIR products. There used to be a nice Maytag guy in commercials they showed on TV... he must be dead now because the company does not do anything they used to promise. SHAME ON U MAYTAG!!!!!!!!!!

Paying extra for something usually comes with a trade off for good service. Not with Maytag / Whirlpool. There is no value in paying extra for a Maytag. Just buy something cheaper, then it'll cost you less on the front end when you buy it and less when you have to replace it anyway.

I have Maytag W/D, Maytag Microwave, Maytag Range, Maytag double oven. I used to have a Maytag dishwasher, until the control panel inexplicably caught fire in the middle of the night.

I called Whirpool and they sent a technician out at their cost to examine it. Great!

But, it took a week for them to get there. Well, okay, it was around Christmas.

The technician indicated that there was clearly a failure in the control panel wiring, and we were all thankful that my house didn't burn down.

The safety / customer service department called me back the next day. Great!

I was offered a $100 or 35% off the MSRP for another Whirpool or Maytag product. Hmm, let me think about.

I called the same person back, their voicemail said they would be back on Jan 2. So, I left a message and waited. Jan 2 came and I never heard anything. She previously told me that someone else in their department could help. So, I tried. I was on hold 2 different times for over 30 minutes and nobody else ever picked up. January 3 and still no return call, left another message. Eventually gave up, tired of being without a dishwasher for so long and had another one installed.(Lowe's hauled the old one away.)

Now, I STILL haven't heard back from all the messages, finally held on for another 15 minutes today and spoke with someone else. They won't make good on the original offer, because I no longer have the old dishwasher. Information NOBODY told me before. Why would I keep the old one? Why wouldn't anyone call back? If they had, I would've known that.

Brand, and brand loyalty turned out to be absolutely NO value to me. I won't make that mistake again. I do not recommend purchasing anything Maytag or Whirlpool.
