Maytag is a horrible company that was bought by Whirlpool. I bought a dishwasher that was recalled because they have had over 135 fires or close to fires. They promised to fix it or give a voucher for 75$ to buy a brand new one. I chose to have it repaired. they said they would have it fixed in 10 days. Now it is three weeks and I find out that they are backordered on parts for a big chunk of 2 million dishwashers and the parts will not be in earlier than three weeks from now. Maytag will do nothing for me. I did not buy a dishwasher to do dishes by hand. AVOID WHIRLPOOL, MAYTAG, KITCHEN AID, AND AMANA. They are all the same cheep no good clowns that do not care about their customer. I want a dishwasher that works, thats it.

just got thru to maytag after nearly 2 months of getting recordings. during this time they siad not to use dishwasher. fianlly got thru to their webiste after that wasnt working fot the longest time, and ordered the service repair kit for the faulty part. that never came. tried calling again getting trasfered twice to a recording that says your party is not answering, your phone call will be disconnected! so fustrating! just got thru again to corporate, they said, recalled part on backorder overseas and they dont know when it will be in. i aksed them how could that be. this is the faulty part and they dont have enough of them instock when they knew they needed to ship these out to all of the customers? i aksed to talk to someone higher up, the CEO or anyone, and she said i wouldn't be able to. so now i havent been able to use my dishwasher for 2 months and it could be another 2 years by the time they (if they) ship the part out. I WILL NEVER BY ANOTHER MAYTAG PRODUCT AGAIN.

Jesse White was the best television Maytag Repairman: he had that perfect long-suffering grimace that added the pathos needed to express the loneliness of his condition. Considering the previous comments about the products this company produces, it is quite fitting that Jesse White was an old song and dance man. Vaudeville lives on.

Be careful what you wish for? I managed early on (2 days of constant calls/internet) to get an appointment for my dishwasher to be repaired. After cancelling the first apointment (many phone calls) a technician came out and "fixed" it. But my "QuietPlus" dishwasher was then noisy because he had removed the sound insulation. Many phone calls later, another technician examined it and said a part (unrelated to the sound insulation) had not been installed by the first technician (interesting!). Today, when the part was to be installed, I received calls - the technician would arrive in 20 minutes, then, a different technician was coming, then, my appointment was cancelled. Even if they do come out someday to put in the part I will still have a broken dishwasher (no sound insulation).

Another cute trick: they sent the parts directly to me. Yoohoo, 911! Would you open a package that you personally had not ordered?

It looks to me like Maytag contracted with A & E Factory Service who contracted with Sears to do the recall repairs so they could all fingerpoint to each other and the customer who wanted a repair (instead of $75 toward a new, possibly defective, dishwasher) would get grief and be discouraged from pursuing it.

In the last 3 years had an icemaker (that I didn't get repaired) and now in the past few weeks a heater element fail (in the same side by side - 6 years old), had a tub leak on a 4 year old washing machine, and had the latch bread on a 10 month old dishwasher. Maytag quality reputation (that they spend a lifetime building) is gone. Now I use consumer reports to eliminate the dogs.

On 5-26-07 I bought a MAYTAG model MER6755AAS electric range from the Bellevue, WA HOME DEPOT. It was delivered and installed by a MAYTAG contractor on 6-7-07. The next day we used it and the over would not turn off. The only way we could get it to turn off was to pull the plug. I called MAYTAG CUSTOMER SERVICE and was told by their SAFETY OFFICE that there must be something wrong with it and that demanded that I unplug it and leave it unplugged until it is repaired. They called an authorized repair facility, A&E REPAIR, and I was told that they cannot come out until 7-2-07! "So for 3 weeks you are telling me that I should eat cold food because this brand new stove is unsafe to use and you can't get someone out here in the meantime?" "We're really sorry."
I called HOME DEPOT and the next day they provided me a "Loaner" range to use, free of charge until MAYTAG repairs mine. So in my kitchen I had two stoves, side by side.
Yesterday was the day that A&E was to come. They never did. This morning I called MAYTAG and they checked with A&E. I was told that yesterday A&E called me to confirm the appointment but I didn't answer so they canceled. That is a lie. I was home all day and A&E did not call. I also have caller ID and there is no record that A&E called.
Maytag suggested another repair company. I called them and they don't respond to my area. I called MAYTAG back and they suggested another repair company. I called them and they are temporarily not doing service work due to an injury. He suggested two other companies. I called them and they are closed for the 4th of July holiday.
HOME DEPOT says to keep the loaner as long as I need it. I suspect it will be here a long, long time.

Bill, I am a former Iowan and always had a great affinity for Maytag and Amana, which used to be Iowa companies. But when I recently bought a dishwasher, I went with a Bosch. Because I wanted something I knew would work! Guess it's not 1965 anymore.

I regret buying my Maytage Neptune washer-dryer. I've had three repair calls and bad customer service. I suggest people look elsewhere. I won't be buying anything from Maytag again.

I feel your pain, Lauren - had over 6 visits and no luck...have given up and bought LG instead. Maytag sucks and I'll never buy another product from them and will actively tell friends/family to avoid Maytag/Whirlpool.

Well, you all can calm down - Maytag has closed down. So you can complain all you want, but no one is listening. The complaints that you all have is probably due to the fact that Maytag was in route to closure all while you were doing poor research on your items. Who in their right mind would buy a Maytag product knowing that the company is closing down anyway? That is your own. Just realize that thousands of people in the small town where Maytag existed are all out of jobs. Complain complain - in the end you all live with stability.

Maytag didn't close down they were just bought out by whirlpool and still exist as a separate company.
The problem is that Whirlpool has no desire to please any of their customers, and laughs at people who won't buy Maytag now. But will buy Whirlpool/amana jennair kitchenaid inglis roper etc, or a Sears unit made by Whirlpool.

I am fed up with Maytag. I have a dryer and washer I bought in september of 05, they been giving us hell since day one. The washer always goes off balance no matter what in the rinse cycle, and the dryer stopped working about 2 weeks after getting it due to a faulty igniter. Then since day one the inside of the drum when you open it you get a smell of natural gas and I had people over to look at it atleast 3 times. All said "YUP we smell gas, BUT, the dohicky says you dont have a leak so there is nothing we can do".

So over the past weekend and watching my wife go up and down the stairs to fix the washer I decided to email Maytag about my problems and how back in 1990 when I used to deliver only Maytag appliances they were great, I was removing old 1960's lime green units that worked since day one without ever a problem, just the customers were sick of looking at them. Here it is 15 years later and they are complete junk. They look up my concerns, tell me they have nothing on me at all about any of them getting looked at. Then after a bit they found my dryer but not my washer, then they hung up on me. I called back and the lady was acting super dumb this time saying I mentioned to the other one about a washer for noise and smells like gas, like a washer runs on gas :P
Then she tells me she finally sees something about the dryer, and proceeds to call me a lair over the phone that I had it serviced back in 03 of 05 when I didnt get my disability settlement till 08-05, nor pay for my home in cash, with the deed to it, showing and proving I was not living here at that time but back up north in Indiana. She told me I dont know what else to tell you, it shows your name on it, and your lying, and I told her I could show proof I was not here and that ended the call.

I like to know what company tells the service department to call their customers lairs, not care about their needs, and when they can show proof of a scam before they even owned the product, or was even in the state, tells them too bad, piss off.

I cannot believe Maytag wants that kind of bad publicity out there unless they want the stock to drop and shut down the entire maytag line, or I dont know what. For a big company like whirlpool, who owns Maytag, you would think they would like this kind of treatment of their customers that pay their bills, and when they are happy tell friends to buy, and when mad tells them to stay far away, and as anyone knows for ever mad customer it means from that one you lost about 100 sales from further word of mouth. HMM this went on the internet, wonder how many customers they will lose now?
